HELP...Need Celebrity Chefs for Non Profit Fundraising Cookbook
I've been assigned the task of writing a cookbook for a non profit organization, and was wondering if there are certain Celebrity Chefs/Restauranteurs who lend their name for worthy causes. Do you know of any who are currently charity friendly? This cookbook will be used as a major fundraising vehicle for our association, and in addition to membership participation, we are hoping to have recipes graciously submitted by culinary legends such as Ina Garten, Emeril Lagasse, Martha Stewart, Mario Batalli, Thomas Kelleher, etc. Any suggestions would be highly appreciated

I really don't know much about publishing, but if your aims are that high, you might consider a compilation of recipes those authors have already published in their cookbooks, like a greatest hits. In which case, you might start with contacting their publishers.

You have to contact them respectively. They all have contact info on their web sites. Usually you pick a recipe and get permission to print it. Get it in writing.

i would contact a dining room manager of their respective restaurant and ask her or him for the marketing/p.r. firm the chef uses. then contact the firm directly. chefs are generally very busy and getting in touch with one will be difficult.

Is yours a national, regional or local non-profit? I ask because I think you have to have realistic goals. On one hand, it never hurts to ask, but on the other hand, the American Heart Association cookbook will catch the attention of more national celebrity chefs than the Peoria PTA cookbook.
That said, I'd create a list of the "best" chefs in the area where your cookbook will be distributed. If it's a national cookbook, compile a list of the best/most well-known chefs in the country (using Zagat, Food & Wine, etc.). If it's a regional or local cookbook, compile a list of the best/most well-known chefs in your area. Send a personal letter, plus a 1-2 page overview of the cookbook with a mock-up page (or page from your organization's last cookbook). Then assign committee members to personally follow up (via phone) a few weeks later with each chef.
My non-profit has had success gathering recipes from local celebrity chefs. Furturemore, we've found that some are happy to lend their continued support after the cookbook's printed, in the form of cooking demos, cookbook signings, etc.
