Artichokes: Canned, frozen and jarred

I'm looking for a few great brands of artichokes from all over the world. What are the best brands from Italy, Spain, North Africa, California etc? They can be frozen, jarred or canned, but I'm looking for exceptional quality. Thanks!

I've always liked Pastene products -- especially the marinated artichokes. They are great in antipasti.

Roland canned chokes are good too. I prefer frozen but they're tougher and tougher to find. They used to be sold under the name Cara Mia but now I can only find Bird's Eye - and only in a few select stores.

I think Trader Joe's has a good frozen choke and also their jarred is pretty good too.

if you google up colluccio's italian market in brooklyn, ny they have the most delicious imported roman artichokes with the long stem attached....
they come in either large cans or jars - i can't think of the brand name at the moment..... i don't know if you live nearby but they are the greatest source for imported italian specialties.....

the roman artichokes are very, very delicious. but artichokes, any way are delicious to me. i was down in ecuador last winter and my friend's family had a huge artichoke field. they didn't know what to do with them, so i
whipped up artichokes a variety of ways - one was the roman style, young artichokes, keeping the stem long - blanch and then dress with extra virgin olive oil and fresh lemon.... a very special treat.

i think the trader joe's frozen hearts are excellent! i always have them in my freezer and use them for frittata and soup on a regular basis.

i'll have to check those out next time i'm there, i love the frozen hearts, too.... any way shape or form, love those chokes.
