So, what are you eating 'the morning after'?

Leftovers? Antiacids? Food from the mall food court or the Ruby Tuesday's inside said mall?

I'm having a sinfully rich dark chocolate muffin because I feel 'I deserve' it right now--my family seemed to cut back on T-day this year, so there were no real (!) vegetable entrees, hence no leftovers for me. (T-dinner consisted of turkey, white lasagna with bacon and lamb, two kinds of meatballs, rice and mushrooms flavored with chicken stock, potatoes stuffed in the turkey, eggplant with ricotta and meat sauce, so I ended up eating mostly the grapes from the dessert plate and one or two non-meat appetizers).

So, do you indulge or abstain on 'the day after'--as a kid I used to try to wheedle dessert for breakfast or chocolates from a gift box, I've visited homes that served pancakes or waffles for a real 'Lost weekend' food binge, and yes, more often than not, being from NJ, I'd eat something obtained at the mall, although I'm not headin' anywhere near dem parts today!

My traditional post-Thanksgiving breakfast: leftover mashed potatoes and a dinner roll. And strong, strong coffee.

@Heart -- I wish you'd been here last night! Even though there were no vegetarians here last night, I had at least 4 dishes other than desserts that you could have had, and I would have sent you home with a lovely container of leftovers!

We're going to build Thanksgiving panini for brunch, using the rolls I baked yesterday and the usual - mash, turkey, cranberry sauce, OH adds stuffing, I add shredded brussels sprouts...mmm!

I had an apple with coffee (skim milk and Sweet n Low). Was not hungry and I have to work today. Ahh the life when you work for a bank...

If home-I would have liked to utilize one of the yummy Multigrain Croissants I bought the other day. Mmmm...toasted with some honey butter sounds good! Breakfast tomorrrow unless I come up with something else.

And you deserve whatever it is you want to eat today! Make today your Thanksgiving Day! You should have a friend with you so you don't have to celebrate alone. :)

It's great to work near holidays when it's not hectic so I can catch up on calls and work. Patients are too busy eating, sleeping, or shopping to call me. :)

A coworker, while I walked in to work early this morning, was telling me about Subway's flatbread and how she was curious to try one, which piqued my interest.

At lunch, I went to the cafeteria and saw the winding Subway line (25 people ahead of me). I was about to back away, but I really wanted to check the flatbread out.

I bought a chicken flatbread for my coworker, since she doesn't eat red meat, and a steak and bacon for myself. I don't eat bacon normally, but I figured I'd try it. Of course, I ordered mine w/o onions and raw bell peppers (as shown in their menu). In fact, I ordered mine sans vegetables, because they all looked NASTY. The lettuce looked frozen.

My coworker was delighted to get the sandwich. She had forgotten her lunch at home, had been curious to try it anyway, and it was free.

I also made a salad -- lettuce, alfalfa sprouts, boiled egg, cucumbers, mushrooms, grape tomatoes, sunflower seeds, and garbanzo beans. I was tempted to get beets and grilled chicken, but didn't want to go overboard and I wanted it to go into my sandwich.

I'm washing this all down as I type with my daily ritual of San Pelligrino -- orange soda today. I alternate between that and the lemon soda. Standing at the cooler, I was tempted to get a bottle of root beer, but old habits die hard.

1 large cup of coffee followed by the rest of the pot
1 med bannana
3 saltine crackers
and lots of quiet

I started my day with Honey Nut Cheerios. Boring I know, but I am planning another dinner tonight, so I am pacing today. I came home from our holiday festivities with a piece of carrot cake for DH, some fire roasted corn bake and a little stuffing. I am trying really hard not to stick a spoon in the containers! ;-)

I had to get to work by 5am today and was awake at 3:30am, so for breakfast I brought in my favorite Thanksgiving leftover meal: cold turkey sandwiches on my mother's homemade buns with ketchup. Yum!!!!

Something tells me that those might be dinner, too....if I ever get home....

i finished off yesterday's appetizer of proscuitto wrapped apple and a few rosemary & pignoli cookies which a friend baked..... followed with a cup of autumn spiced roobis tea..... i'm restraining myself from ripping into the scalloped potato leftovers ..... though i could go for a bag of russet chips right now.....

Egg, cheese, & veg-sausage breakfast sandwich on whole wheat bread, with excellent coffee.

coffee and a red velvet cupcake : )

2 brownies and a plate of potatoes, bread stuffing and carrots with turnips now i'm enjoying a lg iced coffee before i start dishes. then maybe another brownie. not maybe definitely.

Sausage stuffing (first year I made it, yum!) with gravy, green olives and coffee. On a side note I finally found something our dog doesn't like to share, he spit out his green olive!

Turkey, french roll and pumpkin pie cheesecake.mmmmmmmm

leftover stuffing and pumpkin cream pie.

mmm.

breakfast of champions- alton brown's apple pie recipe a la mode

Coffee. More coffee. Shuffled around putting away the last of the stuff from the dishwasher. Wasn't hungry, but the leftover turkey was looking at me, so I grabbed a couple small pieces. Now I'm wishing I was hungry because the rest of the leftovers are starting to call my name.

@Heart, I want to adopt you. I could be the not-evil faux stepmother substitute. It just makes me sad when someone goes out of their way to be mean to a particular family member. I can understand clueless (Oh, I didn't know there was meat in bacon bits!) but I don't understand why someone wouldn't at least try to accommodate a family member, particularly during a holiday. I'm not vegetarian, but if you were coming here for dinner, I'd make sure there was plenty for you to eat. Actually, except for the turkey, gravy and one of the two stuffings/dressings, you could have had everything else I served, and I wasn't even trying.

Breakfast was a pumpkin muffin with cream cheese frosting. Lunch will be pizza, dinner will be Japanese food. I'll eat leftovers tomorrow.

Heart- I'm sorry there was so little for you yesterday. We are not veggie but you would have had plenty to choose from at our house we started w. apps- hummus veggie sticks, anti pasto platter meates separated from cheese and veggies
fresh mozzarella, roasted pepper and mesculin salad
fresh green beans almodine
roasted beets
sweet potato casserole
roasted carrots, parsnips and sweet potato
rosemary yukon gold
mashed russet
The only things meat- turkey, ham, gravy and stuffing
Indulge today- you deserve it!

pumpkin pancakes with the leftover canned pumpkin....with cream cheese and REAL maple syrup, so good!

Thanks, brooke, db & Kt so much!

In a way, once I got over my initial surprise, it was almost a bit funny--and to be honest, because the meal was so meat-heavy, I think even the omnivorous folk were a bit knocked out, not having much in the way of vegetables to lighten things--I actually had Thanksgiving leftovers from my friend's house today (who eats meat but also those funny 'green and orange things called vegetables') while she recovered from hosting a Thanksgiving with three young children and two elderly parents underfoot.

A bloody Mary

Pie. Stuffing. Brussels sprout gratin. Pie. Stuffing. Repeat as needed.

bloody mary's are my favorite.

When I saw "morning after",I thought about something else!
