Salt-rising bread in New Jersey?

Does anyone know of a bakery/grocery store (can also be in Brooklyn if that also will get me what I want) that makes/sells salt-rising bread?

I've got such a craving for it, but it's all but fallen off the radar these days. I ordered some from a company online but it was pretty much in the beginning stale stage when I got it.

Please help *makes pouty face*

If you can't find the bread anywhere, King Arthur Flour sells a salt rising starter.

Oh, I guess I should have mentioned that I suck at baking, I don't have the time or patience to make my own bread. :-(

thank you though, I appreciate your suggestion!

Bribe a friend who bakes :-)

Where do you live? How much do you want?

oh sorry... will you be my friend? (insert appropriate pause) where do you live, how much do you want?

You wanna come to Colorado, I'll bake you a loaf. I've got the stuff from King Arthur already, so I'm good to go. It's funny, I was just thinking that I should make that bread again soon. Maybe I should mail you a slice, eh?

@Bouthern ~ did you see the lobster bread dbcurrie made? artwork, I tell ya! You must go to Colorado.....you must go to Colorado.....you must go to.....
(hurry the hell up, so you miss the snow!)

@Madam Currie ~ if you bake it, they will come.....if you bake it, they will come..... (and she is making a pouty face, how sad is that?)

So, what do you want ess bee......an armadillo, alligator, crocodile, hippopotamus, buddha, septa bus, sumo wrestler? She is genius, I tell ya, genius!

Perky, you are so funny!

@db- I've never been to Colorado, how's about Saturday? :P

@PM - you're getting coal in your stocking and Robin Hood boots under the tree. :P

I didn't see the lobster bread you're talking about though, but if I had to choose, I'd want.... Snuffleupagus!

@Bouthern ~ I've had coal in my stocking - tastes charred. Would you believe I used to be a Hood? Yup, that was my married name for 30 years. Would I kid ya? Course I would, but that was true. And no, I didn't name either daughter Robin, although we did live on Nottingham Lane once. True, true, and true. Also true, dbcurrie makes the most awesome looking bread - it has to be delicious, you can tell.

Saturday's good. You'll recognize me when you get to Colorado. I'll be the one brushing bread flour off my clothes.

@Bouthern ~ I don't think Perk was there for the "booty" chat yesterday.

Could someone please tell me what salt rising bread is?

@iz -- what chat? Did I miss some fun?

Salt rising bread is an old way of making bread where it's sort of fermented. Not quite like sourdough, but the same concept. I guess the salt inhibits the yeast, so that some other critter does the rising part. The end result tastes (to me) like there's cheese in it.

@iz ~ BOOTY. as in junk in the trunk, or as in treasure in the trunk? I already have enough junk, but some treasure would shirley come in handy. (yes, I know it's surely, but shirley is funnier)

@db ~ check the live chat thread again. bread sound yummy. I'll come to Colorado for that!

@Perk ~ teribithia was looking for flat boots yesterday. The ones she picked were UGLY!

@iz- damn, I thought she was in there!

salt-rising bread has a fabulous flavor... makes really good toast!

Here's where I bought some online last year:
