No More Thanksgiving!!

If I see another pumpkin anything or caramelized apples or pecans or turkey or another table filled with an endless array of starches, I'm going to shoot myself. I'm so OVER Thanksgiving. I want a salad.

Does anyone else feel this way or am I just a grouch?

Heh. I spent all day wishing I was hungry enough to dig in to the leftovers.

On the other hand, I did have salad with dinner tonight, but I love salad and technically it was left over from last night.

But I still couldn't muster up enough hunger to go for dessert. Maybe I'll have pie for breakfast tomorrow.

What would be considered the complete opposite of thanksgiving dinner? The unThanksgiving. Because whatever it is I want some.

Since we crashed a friend's potluck for Thanksgiving, I have no leftovers. So this morning I threw some potatoes, sweet potatoes, onions, mushrooms, garlic, and fire roasted tomatoes in the crock pot with 2 lamb shanks. It tasted deliciously anti-thanksgiving, which seems fitting since we were around native American rock art all day :P

I totally feel that way. After spending 3 days in the kitchen, prepping and cooking, I am ready for it to be over. I laid on the couch watching movies all day today and the family can help themselves to the leftovers. salad sounds great.

nah, i love it all... as they say.... "good to the last drop".... though a salad
does sound rather refreshing.

Well, I had an un-Thanksgiving tonight:-). We went out, I had a crab meat cocktail and a couple of seared scallops (note - no starches whatsoever!). It actually felt very good!

I haven't started Thanksgiving yet, tomorrow or Sunday I will be doing it and I am not doing turkey but indivdual cornish game hens.

Geez - I started pulling out leftovers for dinner last night..was going to morph my turkey leftovers into turkey enchiladas, along with a little bruschetta created from leftover rolls - with some of the dregs of green bean casserole..too me sounded good. FAMILY REVOLTED ! Ended up with 2 pizzas and a tray of Tuscan pasta from Pizza Hut.

Really wasn't bad, actually refreshingly good for a change (considering it was pizza delivery). Today will get out the food saver and start making freezer packs of leftovers.

I had enough, my Thanksgiving was last saturday for my family of 20 people, then catered thanksgiving lunch for 40 people wednesday and on Thanksgiving day cooked 2 turkeys for my MIL. I carved 7 turkeys in 7 days!!! Enough- tonite I'm making a small dinner ham and scalloped potatoes. (On Thanksgiving I had salad and a little stuffing- no turkey)

banging my nail file on desk. no more turkey
no more turkey
no more turkey!!!!!!

No Pumpkin ~ I am right there with you!

I also can not wait for squash to be gone. I don't like it, I don't like it, I don't like it. And every magazine, show, and blog is full of it every year for two months. Yuck. BE GONE, ye mushy sweet "vegetable"!

I swear to God, I got up this morning, looked at yet another pile of dishes that magically appeared in the sink while I was out shopping, used many, many profane words as I loaded the dishwasher for the 900th time in 3 days and declared this a no carbs week!

I need some good clean salad with many, many cups of herbal tea and at least a walk every day, despite the cold. (Shopping does not count).

Screw that turkey...he was a miserable prick anyway.

I'm sacked out on the sofa watching Hancock, with a nice pot of tea, basking in the afterglow of the wonderful time I had with family and friends on the day. The build up to the holiday might be stressful, but you learn to laugh at the silliness and the mistakes, and focus on the good memories that were made.

ChelleyD01, tell whomever made those dirty dishes that they better get their behinds into the kitchen and on dishwasher patrol until the mess is cleaned up, or else. Delegate, don't drive yourself crazy.

While tonight I'm doing shrimp pasta, and have had my fill of leftovers. I too, spent 3 days on Thanksgiving prep and cooking, I would never say no more.

I think I could eat Thankgiving dinner every week! And we'll be doing it again either Christmas Eve or Christmas. Totally worth every exhaustion inducing moment!

Thanksgiving is the single best holiday of the year... All the food family and friends, without all the B.S. commercialism of Christmas. I miss Thanksgiving already. I definately understand the palate fatigue, but when the last of the turkey soup, sandwiches or pot pies have gone... It is a bit sad for me. I never get tired of 3 day food binges, or all night sex... although the former seems to happen more these days than the latter. So to that I say cheers and huzah!, and raise the last of my turkey and stuffing sandwiches with my cranberry sauce stained hands. Now where is that damned remote...........

try under the pile of jerky, pavlov

whew.... had quite the scare there...left it in the freezer in between the vanilla ice cream and sambuca.

ah sambuca. keep that hidden.

Sambuca is the nectar of the Gods!

i wonder how it taste with iced coffee?

MMMmmm, sambuca. And Thanksgiving. I love Thanksgiving. I love how happy it makes everyone and how we all look forward to it and so willingly work our asses off for days. I even love the crowded grocery store the day before and how we're all there for the same reason and buying the same things. The piles of potatoes and onions and garlic and all the different mushrooms. I like looking at all the different things and knowing that other people have different traditional meals from mine and wondering what they're making. I like that, for some reason, it's the one day of the year that my husband goes with me to the store AND stays in a good mood. And I love Pavlov's other favorite thing too.
Um, sorry to ruin your thread...

you have ruined nothing

@TEXAS ~ It's ALL good! That Pavlov gets as all to thinking........

You guys are too funny...all I wish for is for my GI problems to disappear. They weren't caused by Thanksgiving, but my Thanksgiving joy was quite limited by them. (PS I don't mean problems with the army).

Lovely party at my SiL's. All the food was scrumptious. I had one serving of everything and had to leave abruptly.

he likes crayons.

@dearrie ~ Yeah I know. What a man!!

the jerky i find yummy.

Sambuca and jerky.

who woulda thought.

It makes me all warm and fuzzy inside!

make sure you keep in the lines . no coloring by numbers.

After the Sambuca, I am not sure I will be able to stay in the lines. Maybe Pavvy can help me.

oh pavlov
where are you?
he's probably playing with his remote

LOL! I sure hope he is practicing safe remoting.

i just choked on my winston.

Stay in the lines? You're asking this of Capt. A.D.D.?! Holy hammers of hell are you in trouble izatryt..... The remote crisis has passed.... I am now turning my thoughts towards the Iron Bowl (Alabama's biggest state holiday where AUBURN plays those bastages from tuscalooser, univ. of al.) I fear my boys are gonna get slobberknocked... but WAR DAMNED EAGLE anyways.

Hey, what's wrong with crayons? It beats glue paste, although I must admit I miss the nutty piquante flavor of the glue.

Sambuca is great as an after dinner drink, but never.... and I mean never at any time should you drink vast quantities of sambuca just before agreeing to play an Italian card game called scoppa with a group of middle aged italian men who have known each other since they all wore short-pants. It's a good way to loose your stomach as well as your money.

Careful now!

I was born on Thanksgiving Day, (a few years back) and this is my birthday weekend! So I am really glad Thanksgiving is over! We are going out to dinner tonight and Brunch tomorrow. I am having a hankering for linguine and white clam sauce. Yummy!!

TTFN.... tah tah for now!

I was born in trouble Pavvy. I have some STORIES about Sambuca!

happy birthday

Thanks dearrie. I wish I was spending it in Maine.

pick me up on your way by. the furthest i go lately is pepperell and hollis.

Will do. I could go for a big bowl of chowda.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY IZ!
I have the Sambuca out to celebrate.
Now where is Dearrie with that shotglass on a rope?

when the guys go clamming next summer i'll send ya a gallon.

Thanks! I would drive up to RI to get them.

@TEXIEgirl ~ Thanks! I have to pace myself tonight! I'll wait until after dinner to enjoy the 'buca. I want to know how dearrie gets the glass to stay on the rope....

@ texas if you want one, you have to leave the family at home and come to laconia, nh. father's day weekend for bike week. girls weekend #1.

it's knotted

Does it have a hole in it?

@dearrie, wouldn't that be fun?!

it has a handle.

Ah. I was having trouble on the visual. You should host a SE bike week event.

fun doesn't begin to describe it. white birch campground, tell lisa your with dino. we are all the way in the back. sat nite is the big party nite. the whole camp ends up in our site the guys bring guitars and everyone lets their hair down and has fun. without any trouble. been going on and off since 92. i always have a crazy time. old man joe puts a girl on the back and titanium sleds on his boots and does a spark show when it gets dark. goes up the mountain and fly's down with his lites off. you'd like it.

My daughter's husband has 3 Harleys. My husband plays bass guitar. I think we could fit in!

the strip. how could i forget the strip. that's sat, breakfast then down to the strip. weir's beach. can't explain it, you have to see it for yourself. hee hee

everyone fits in. that's the beauty of it.

Well, I am off to shower and get gorgeous for my big night out. Sing with me now......."It's my burfday! It's my burfday!" *rolling arms*

Happy Birthday iz!!! Have fun on your big night out!:-)

Happy B-day izatryt!!! If you've been counting backward since 29, how young does that make you???

I have a turkey thawing in the fridge and I can't wait to cook it, so I can have leftovers, too! I didn't take any turkey since I have my own, but the chef didn't make gravy, so I asked to take home the drippings and wings. I missed gravy, and I'll have lots to freeze now. The wings will make my stock even richer. One T-day dinner does not suffice. My leftovers should come in handy in a few weeks when all my girls come home for Christmas.

ahh perky I have been 29 for about 6 yrs now. :)

You guys are all so crazy but I'm am not stuffed as I was the cook all week. When I cook for crowds I am nervous about making sure all are happy so I never get to eat, unless it is late at night and I am stuffing my face. Ohh, stuffing that sounds good(wandering off)

Well turkey girl happy B-day what did you get all the presents you wanted? Go out and celebrate and I am having a drink for you right now.

Thanks brooke, Perk and pjracz! I had the best linguine and white clam sauce last night. Deeelish. It's off to Brunch in a couple of hours. Then to the basement to work out. ;-P

@Perk ~ Still 29. Just with a few years of experience!!

@pjracz ~ I got lots of great presents. But the best one was seeing my Eddie rebound this week!

Oh my.... I go to Bike Week every Year... I guess my only mistake was in not goingto the white birch campground.

@izzy whom is your Eddie?
