Layered Strawberry Dessert?

I am looking for a receipe that is a starwberry jello, pineapple tidbits, pecan mixture that is layered with sour cream. Anybody have it?

Have you checked the Jello web site? They have tons of recipes there. Good luck!

@cookiepie, I did but couldn't find what I was looking for. However, I did find it on another site.

That sounds.... horrible.

no it is really good

The only thing I know that sounds close to that is pretzel salad where there's a baked pretzel "crust", then a sweetened whipped cream/cream cheese layer, and strawberry jello on top. We use pineapple juice in making the strawberry jello. But no pecans or sour cream...

I agree with nightowl!

@iz, it sounds weird, and it sounds like something I wouldn't make (not fond of Jell-o) but it's probably one of those things that if it was on a buffet, everyone would be slurping it down and raving about how good it was. Some things, you just don't want to hear the ingredients.

I will let you know how it turns out.

Blech. I think it's the sour cream that's throwing this recipe out of kilter.

It sounds like a 50's recipe - I think I remember somebody serving it. I do not like nuts in jello, so I wouldn't have eaten it, but I do remember the sour cream covered the jello mold. It may have been slightly sweetened. My Joy of Cooking and a Jello Recipe cookbook (honest!) are packed, but I'm betting you could find it in an old cookbook. If not them, then maybe Betty Crocker or Better Homes & Gardens?

Just curious - has an older person requested this?

I learned to eat this when my stepmother joined the family. We use 2 big boxes of jello, 1 can crushed pineapple(drained and squeezed), and about 1/2 a cup of nuts, chopped. Make one box of jello, and add the pineapple and nuts to it. Chill until firm, but keep it stirred until it sets so the fruit & nuts don't sink. Then take about 1 1/2 cups of sour cream, add 1/2 cup sugar and mix. Spread on top of the jello. Then make the other box of jello and let it chill for a 1/2 hour or so. Then pour it gently over the sour cream layer and chill the whole thing. We usually make this in a 9 x 12 cake pan. It's yummy!
When I was growing up, my dad always made a lime jello with cottage cheese and pineapple with a dollop of Miracle Whip on top. I like that, too.

I forgot, we also stir in a box of frozen sliced strawberries into the pineapple layer. Let the strawberries thaw.

@Jacquie--oh that pretzel "salad"! I hate that stuff! I have politely eaten so many tiny portions...ew! When will people realize it is nasty??? Uck.

I actually don't fuss over some Jello salads...I like the kitsch factor. Plus my BFF is a Jell-o salad fiend and would love new ideas to torture/tempt us with.

Anyone ever have the 7-Up Jell-O salad? Not half bad!

If I have to eat powder-to-food concoctions, I will stick with the pudding based Better Than Robert Redford. (which right there should show it's age!)

@perky mac - what's older?????

@eatingoutwest - your receipe sounds better than the one I found, I'll try it next time

@renee59 ~ I refuse to answer on the grounds that it most definitely will incriminate me. haha ;-D
