Election Victory Party: Clever Ideas Wanted

I am planning to host an election victory party this weekend. Probably a dinner thing. Maybe potluck, not sure. Anyone else doing this? Looking for original ideas. Thanks!

"Yes We Can"telope wrapped prosciutto

I meant wrapped WITH prosciutto

@julie ~ now you tell me! I scooped out the whole lope with my melon baller. Poked a hole in each one with a wooden skewer, then pushed a piece of prosciutto in each with the ends sticking out like a pleated skirt. I'm happy with the effect. And I did all that in the minute it took you to correct yourself. :0 I love that combo, whichever wraps which.

Now you're mocking me. ;o)

I would never mock julie & bugs mama! Just funnen with ya. I do love that combo, as well as brie with dates or figs or nearly any fruit. I also love prosciutto wrapped asparagus bundles. Favorite is still mushrooms stuffed with sausage or crab. YUM. Just for me. No party.

Thanks..I was looking more for a food theme I guess. Right now I was thinking A Taste of America (which to me means regional recipes but then I got to thinking that my crowd would be multi-culti and perhaps just making it a Melting Pot-Luck would work). Thoughts?

Our dinner club theme for November is "American Classics" foods with city or state names in them or anything quintessentially "American". (We have members of all political persuasions, so we try to be inclusive.)
In coming up with the theme, we considered "swing states", but were having trouble nailing that down, culinarily speaking.
So far, people have signed up to bring New England Clam Chowder, Boston Baked Beans, Kansas City Ribs, American Chop Suey, and New York Spiedies. I think dessert might be apple pie.

@SS ~ How about Swing Steaks and make skirt steaks?

@ss..What a great idea. Sadly my friends are not so culinarily motivated so they will probably make what they feel comfortable making. alas.. would love to hear how your club dinner goes..

How 'bout everyone having to bring something red, white, or blue? That is simple, and even for someone who isn't a great cook, they could bring stuff like coleslaw (white), fruit salad (berries and cream), dips (white), even cold cuts (turkey and roast beef for red and white), blue cheese and bread, and so forth...

how about cookies in the shape of the usa with red white nd blue icing?
