Did Pistahan finally shutter?
I walked by and they were closed. Granted, it was on a Sunday, but when I called their number, I got a recording saying the number had been disconnected. Anyone know what's up? Their Lechon Kawali was insane...

Yes, I live near there and they definitely closed. There had been a "for sale" sign up in the window for months.

Bummer :( I knew it was coming, I was hoping to sneak one more LEchon Kawali in. Does anyone else in make that dish in Manhattan?

Kuma Inn. (See photo)
Admittedly, it's not as inexpensive but it's quite tasty.

Every Filipino restaurant in Manhattan makes lechon kawali, although Pistahan's was definitely one of the best. In relatively close proximity to Pistahan, you can go to Grill 21 (which also makes terrific chicharon bulaklak).

Grill 21's lechon kawali isn't nearly as good. :( I wouldn't go back for it. No Pistahan makes me weep. I'll have to find my lechon kawali elsewhere...

Thank you, my fellow deep-fried pork belly lovers. I will take all this under advisement.
