decorating a cake...

I love the website cake wrecks. Today they have gone above and beyond the call of duty, they have posted a lovely video of Mario Lopez and Sandra Lee (dear god, I'm glad she's not on Canada's food network), they are creating a cake that could cost (as she says) $500.00....

I BEG YOU, you must go watch it...

OMG. DISASTER. Has she lost her mind?

this woman has no shame! i just lost breakfast :(

Priceless, as in having no price. As in, "I wouldn't pay a nickle for that cake."

I can see letting your young gradeschool kids doing something like this for their own cake. And it would look pretty much like that, too.

First of all thats not 40.00. A sheet cake is about 20 bucks the smaller one about 9.00. The hand decorated cookies are 8 bucks a pound. That cake is a wreck I certify it as such. Look if your going to spend that much go to costco and get a real cake ffs. If 2 12 year olds had made that I would say well they are kids. But SLop is so predictable. To her its a masterpiece to me it goes with the poke cake, in the trash.

I'm glad every one got a kick out of that video. For laughs daily check out the blog - such a riot!

WOW... THEY SHOULD OF LEFT IT PLAIN!!

She put cupcakes on an angel food cake and added all that stupid crap to that, too. I forget what she filled the middle with - probably corn nuts. Nothing semi-homemade here, all store-bought. I do have to agree that Mario is lovely eye candy. His dimples are priceless, the cake an embellished embarrassment.

@perky - don't be silly, you can't put corn nuts on a cake unless you also add popcorn!

My first thoughts (as I watched this with the sound off, as it initially loaded):
Who are these people?
Why is the woman wearing what appears to be a negligee while preparing food?

Then:
Her voice is awful... why isn't this overdubbed?
Isn't the term 'plopped' inadvisable, when trying to convey the impression that this could even look like a $40, let alone $500 cake?
She's stacking badly-decorated cupcakes on the cake... why?!

I'm trying to imagine how anyone might appreciate being presented with this by anyone who is not a child. If a child made this, it might be rather sweet. A young child. I would expect more taste/effort from anyone over the age of 10.

No no no no..... Are we talking "Thee Sandra Lee" here? On a cake show? The one w/Kwanzza cake?
