Thanksgiving restaurants in NYC

So, our family has been dining out for Thanksgiving for the last 4 years, and our restaurant of choice has always been Bouley. It just has the cozy but swanky/special atmosphere (especially in the red room) that is perfect for the holiday. This year, because of the opening of the new location, we didn't get our reservation in early enough and all we could get was an 8:45 spot, which is a little too late for some members of our family.

Does anybody have an alternative suggestion? The requirements are great food, and a "special occasion" atmosphere. I'd like it to be more cozy than stuffy, but the rest of the family might be willing to go in a different direction. So far we are looking at Daniel and Jean Georges.

We posted some of our recommendations and menus earlier this week. I think Eleven Madison Park might be a crowd-pleaser for your group -- service will make you feel at home, and you're in an elegant setting with great food.

Ah! Thanks. I should have realized.

We did a dining-out Thanksgiving dinner last year (for the first time ever), and were delighted with the location - iCi in Brooklyn. Cozy, warm, and delicious food...

We've had good luck the past couple of years with BRGuest restaurants. Had a great $35 prixe fixe at Primehouse last year (I think it's $42 this year) and had a very good T-giving dinner at Blue Water Grill the year before. Even though you think steakhouse with Primehouse, they had great turkey + gravy, stuffing, sweet potatoes, etc.

We got a reservation at Eleven Madison. I've never been, and the prix fixe looks great. The setting is more elegant than homey, but that's ok.

Aureole has a great Thanksgiving menu. You should check their website. I dined at Aureole last year and had a terrific time!
