Not sure if this is supposed to be a joke, or did he mean acidic? Some might call that spicy? Just a thought. You know me, I'm temped to fool around and suggest he add 1/2 cup of cayenne, but that would seriously hurt. Don't try this at home!

Add some pureed carrots (like one or two). The sweetness can tame the spiciness. And it should not alter the flavor too much...or the color.

Maybe add some sugar...I do that to cut down on acid. You could also add grated cheese to your sauce-that could help. Also, make sure the tomatoes you are adding aren't spicy (not sure if you are using canned tomatoes). I am assuming with your question you are making your own sauce-hence my suggestions.
