Rehearsal dinner restaurant, UWS, NYC
Friends are hosting a rehearsal dinner in May for their daughter. They are looking for a charming restaurant on the Upper West Side that would have private rooms for this sort of event. They expect 40-50 guests. Any suggestions?

Citrus Bar and Grill on 75th and Amsterdam has a private room downstairs. The food is decent (used to be fantastic but getting mixed reviews lately). The drinks and bar atmosphere are better. It could work if the majority of the attendees are younger.
You may also want to try Cesca, across the street. Italian.
There are a number of others that will work, but not be memorable: i.e.: Sambuca, Carmines, Gabriellas...

I can now answer my own question. Tom Valenti is opening The West Branch on Broadway and 77th Street, and there is a beautiful private room there that will do perfectly.
