izatryt- Thanks so much! This will be a great help to me. When I googled recipes, it was hard not to get a long drawn out medical history and of course all I wanted were recipes!

What kind of treatment are they going thru? We would be glad to give you some ideas on what to make during diagnosis, chemo, radiation, post surgical. We are your friends let us know what is happening.
October is breast cancer awareness month. If you a woman please go and get your annual mammogram if not for yourself for those who love you. If there is a woman you love who is hesitating please help them to go and have one. Early diagnosis is our best weapon in the war on breast cancer.

my mom had colon cancer and after surgery had no desire to enven thing about food one day she asked for what i was eating and that was all she would think about . a whole wheat english muffine buttered with some cream cheese and a thich slice of tomatoe. room temp because of the chemo side effects on her lips.

Jacqueline you have my prayers, the best thing you can do is eat what you can handle whenever you feel you can keep it down. depending on what's going on with treatment you may want just comfort food nice and bland or you may want spicy, just try to eat a little at a time and listen to your body to see if it can handle what you're putting down. ginger tea seems to work best for me with chai tea and lots of honey a close second. you will be in my thoughts hun, i know how hard this has to be on you and i hope you have a support system to help you get through it. if you ever need to talk i'm at jam186@msn.com dont hesitate hun.

I'm so sorry to hear so. I've learned that the following ingredients are good in fighting against cancer:
green soy beans, kale, spinach, lots of oranges, black pepper, bell peppers, brocoli, olives, tomatoes, and berries; all of some of my favourite ingredients by the way--you can make some fantastic salads [EVOO is packed with good stuff too so make your own dressings :)], great fresh stir-frys, hearty soups.

I wish you the best of luck Jaquline : D

Jacqueline I'll being saying prayers for you. If you know what type of breast cancer you have (ER+ or ER-??) that will affect your diet somewhat. ER+ cancers like lots of estrogen - and a diet heavy in soy products can be a negative. (Up until my diagnosis I was on HRT and ate a LOT of soy products - especially soy protein and soy isolates!) Now I limit it.

I pretty much ate like normal - of course no chemo, and that makes a big huge difference. During radiation lots of comfort food was on my list - especially toward the end, fatigue was the problem.

I was told nutritionally dense foods with a lot of protein were good things, they would encourage the healing processes from 2 surgeries and the rads.

You can also check out the forums @ http://community.breastcancer.org You will find a lot of support and encouragement there.

For all the women here: Please go to www.armyofwomen.org and sign up to help find a cure. This is an effort by Dr. Susan Love and the Avon Foundation to enlist as many women as possible to help with the research to find something to prevent breast cancer. Please check the site out and register!
