I come to you with a request:
My mother is visiting me in NYC this weekend, and every time she comes she insists we find a new, inexpensive, restaurant to try.
Let me paint a picture-
We're looking for good, solid, food but ambiance is very important. It must be comfortable. We stumbled into the Gramercy Park spot, Friend of a Farmer, once and she was thrilled. But she has a soft spot for thai, so don't think it needs to be limited to homestyle fare.
I live in the UES, and since quality is difficult to find here I am tempted to try Square Meal (Ed just reviewed). But $30 entrees are on the igh side of my definition of "inexpensive".
Can you provide spots you've found to be a hit with mom? Preferably in Manhattan, but I'd go to the other boroughs for the right place.
Thank you,
K
