Good spots in the Columus, OH area?
I just recently moved to the Columbus area and was wondering if anyone had any recommendations for fun, affordable places to eat? Not especially interested in high brow cuisine, just fun spots with good food.

Schmidt's Sausage Haus und Restaurant was one of my favorites when I lived in the Columbus area in the 1980s. The Bahama Mama and the Bratwurst are the anchors of that menu, with the Hoffbrau Schnitzel and the Reuben being great standbys. Oh, and the Apple Streudel is amazng! It's nice now to find the same Bahama Mama sausages at the Krogers here in the Toledo area. But still, it's always better to make that drive to get fresher stuff right out of that century-old kitchen.

Oh, and keep an eye on the Columbus Foodie blog, particularly the Restaurant Reviews section. You're in a great place for food, that's for sure!

The Taj Mahal has a great and affordable Indian buffet during lunch. Just down the street a bit, Alana's Food and Wine is very cute and intimate with tasty food. Kaya restaurant is a Korean place with good ambience (unusual in a Korean place) and most of their dishes are pretty solid. You just got me nostalgic for my Columbus days!

Oh yeah, like @MamaT says, City Barbecue! If you need something catered, get one of their whole hogs. Open a skin flap, stick a hand in there, pull some out and eat it. Downright astounding flavor!

its more fast food but Raising Cane's has REALLY good chicken, and amazing "special sauce".
if you have not yet been, go to the Short North, and find the North Market. Tons of good foood and interesting things.

welcome to the 'bus' i just recently moved back too-you'll love it!
northstar is awesome (on high street in the short north)
club 185 in german village is one of my faves (corner of livingston & mohawk)
thurmans cafe-you MUST have one of their infamous burgers (thurman ave in german village)
next to thurmans is the german village coffee shop-also a 'must-eat'--just a greasy spoon, but there's very good reason you tend to wait on weekends--it is that wonderful!
shoku in grandview is great if you're a fan of sushi.
aladin's in grandview is also lovely.
surly girl in the short north is fabulous too.
so many wonderful spots! let me know if you need anymore info or suggestions!

Thanks for all of the great info, everybody!
@gastronomeg - I have made a couple of visits to C-bus before moving here and Surly Girl was always a must on the list of things to do. I love their specialty martini's and their frito pie...
