Five Guys - Drive Thru?
Hello everyone. I hope you're doing well tonight.
I'm pretty certain Five Guys has no drive-thru's at any of their locations, and it's probably not even possible given they cook everything from scratch... but can somebody please confirm if possible, that Five Guys have no drive thrus?

um, there's about to be one opening down here and there's certainly no drive-thru, but that's largely because it's the 4th shop in a strip of five stores, so physics does tend to preclude such things, at least in my town.
Other than that, who's to say?
unless, of course, you simply polled customers of every Five Guy's burgers in america/the world/ whatever, and that just seems slightly impractical.

@resellers0 -- Thanks for your reply.
I thought it might be against company policy. For example, Chipotle has no drive-thrus, and I've seen them comment publicly that they do not want them, and the whole concept goes against what they stand for.
So... since Five Guys is-to McDonald's, what Chipotle is-to Taco Bell, I was curious to see if they share the same feelings. And I don't recall ever seeing anybody mention a Five Guys' drive-thru.
For the record, I've written to them, but have yet to get a reply. That's why I'm asking my SE friends.

I don't know much about this place, one just opened near Akron, OH that has me interested, it opened in a former KFC and there is no drive thru, (when KFC did have one).
Not trying to steal your thread, but can you tell me if these burgers are worth it? It's unfortunately right across the street from my all time favorite burger drive-in, so to pass up Swenson's, it better be good! Thanks.

No drive thru in NE Ohio.
Damn tasty bacon cheeseburgers, grilled onion, lettuce, tomato, ketchup and mayo. Fries well done!

Rather than writing to them, why don't you just call their corporate HQs?

There a no drive-thrus in any of the Five Guys here and this (area) is where they originated. I like that you have to go in and get it. I think drive-thru's would affect the quality of the food because they would have to rush to get your order done.

To fastfoodcritic: They are definitely worth it!! Go to their website, you'll see, they've won awards and have been voted "best burgers" here for about the last 8 years. Their fries are awesome too! Get the "cajun" and eat them with malt vinegar and ketchup. Heaven!!
coffeecrzychik at 10:19AM on 10/23/08
oops! I meant the above post for bobcat. Sorry!
coffeecrzychik at 10:21AM on 10/23/08
@coffeecrzy: I do the same thing with the Cajun fries!!! Soooo good.
@Bobcat: Listen to coffeecrzy! That place is so so so delish. Mmmm.
@FFC: There are no drive thru's in Delaware for any of the Five Guys. I hope they don't open one either...

I was thinking about this the other day...I don't think its feasible for them given the time between ordering and order fulfillment. As you note, they don't start the cooking until the order has been placed, so it takes several minutes to finish cooking each order and get it bagged up. The line of cars would be quite long quite quickly, I'd think.
ccbweb at 10:33AM on 10/23/08
Not in the Tampa Bay area.
finsbigfan at 10:34AM on 10/23/08
I believe I read somewhere that they are opposed to drive thrus and I agree with ccbweb that the time in line would be dreadful. And the other question was are they worth it and to that I say ohhhhhh yeah. We moved from DE to OK and we still miss the burgers and the fries are drool worthy.

There is one in Absecon, NJ (recently opened) that I've passed several times, there appeared to be no drive-through there either. I haven't thought about giving them a try, but now I may:-).

Thanks for the responses, I did visit their site and was impressed by all the awards, but like I said, it's hard to pass up your favorite joint for a newbie! Thanks to all your advice I'll definitely try it.
Never thought of putting malt vinegar on cajun fries--sounds great!
Thanks for letting me borrow some of your thread FFC!

brooke, there's one in the new movie theater mall in Toms River, on 37W. It's sooooooooooo good. I love that they offer cajun fries and hot sauce for their burgers.
No drive thru there either.
scarletini at 4:27PM on 10/23/08
