Election Night Party
Hey all... I am thinking of having some people over for election night, and want to make some election-themed food. I can't think of anything to do other than make "traditional" American food (like the 4th of July), but I am thinking more in terms of appetizers/finger foods. Any suggestions?

We had an elitist-themed Debate party, with foods like stuffed figs, gruyere fondue, and a Mediterranean cheeseball. We also had blue and red foods and drinks.

I put together some recipes for an election night party here. Hope this helps!

How about pork belly!! Just messin'......
Really how about BBQ chicken pizza cut in small squares or a savory cheesecake. This is really good too: Jalapeno and cream cheese wrapped in bacon (recipe on Pioneerwomancooks.com)

I'm probably going to get slaughtered for mentioning it, but Rachael Ray's magazine has Election Party ideas in the November issue. I love the "elephant ears" and "donkey tails" as a dessert option. Maybe too cutesy for you, but a suggestion nonetheless.

Serve something from the sea...because it all smells fishy to me! :o) corny, I know. Insert groans here.

If one could eat several big piles of crap, I'd have suggestions for you. ;)

I'll have my party when all the campaign signs are gone.

Our tradition for election nights is to have stuffed squid because it just seems so appropriate ... what with politicians and all!

Pot luck seems appropriate; but if my candidate loses, I'll need comfort food. I'll probably have a bowl of New England clam chowder!

This is my menu:
Freddie Macaroni and Cheese
Chicago Political Machine Dogs

four years ago we had a GREAT election night party... i was voting on the republican side back then so we served "right" wings and Condileesa (sp?) rice and beans. it was a big hit.
