Eating out in Fort Greene / Williamsburg
Have a show to go to in Fort Greene tomorrow night, but I don't know the area well. Are there any great dinner spots that are small / well-priced / date spot / out-of-the-ordinary? Would start in Williamsburg too.

don't really know fort greene area that well, but in williamsburg, some great spots include dumont/dumont burger, chimu (peruvian), oak cafe, le barricou (french), acqua di santo (italian)...so many options depending on what you're in to.

Fort Greene: Black Iris is Middle Eastern food, LouLou is French food, The General Greene is American-ish food, Madiba has South African food.

i ate at bonita last week in fort greene. they also have a williamsburg location. don't let the limited menu fool you. they have a handful of specials which will excite your palate. also try the spicy grapefruit margarita. where in williamsburg? there so many good spots.

Thanks! Anywhere...something delicious and affordable, maybe lowly lit and off the beaten path. Character is always appreciated.

Fanny on Graham is off the beaten path and a more affordable version of Dumont, which can be a scene and very pricey. They have a fantastic porkchop, cripsy-skinned chicken, and delicious flank steak with fries. French-American.

Fanny is a quite a secret, they've been massively ignored by press and blogs. They have a great and really cheap bowl of mussels that I love.

In Williamsburg there's a place called Food for Thought. The food is quite good, but their bread pudding is Amazing. I'm going to be in Williamsburg for a conference next weekend and if I don't get the chance to go there for dinner, I'll be stopping for a takeout order of the bread pudding on my way home.

My favorite restaurant in Fort Greene is Chez Oskar on DeKalb. It may sound unadventurous, but try their chicken! I also like Madiba for South African food. Probably the best known restaurant in the area is Thomas Beisl for Austrian food -- it is right across the street from BAM.

General Greene, LouLou, ICI, or Bonita. All are on Dekalb in Fort Greene. Graziella around the corner on Vanderbilt has good brick oven pizza too.

Graziella's pizza is pretty tasty, although my favorite on the DeKalb stretch is Black Iris. Cheap and delicious.

Ooo, Fort Greene does have much to choose from. I spent last night wracking my brain and googlemapped a few suggestions for friends. Check it out ...
