Orlando Restaurants
I have found myself in Orlando at a conference and desperately searching for local dives, moderately priced. Any suggestions?

We live in Orlando and it would help to know what neighborhood you are in. Or at least which side of town because Orlando is rife w/ toll roads and backwoods ways to get places. It also is Mecca for chains since people travelling w/ kids want what is comfortable - and for that I apologize. We have lived here a few months and are still looking!
But here are a few ideas. All at reasonable prices.
Ok, this is weird but is totally a local thing - stop into your local Publix and get a Boar's Head Sub at the Deli. Honestly, a nice inexpensive meal plus you get the flavor of the local market.
BBQ at great prices, a few locations - http://www.smokeybones.com/

HOLE out on the south east side of town - great breakfast though, southern

Odd and inexpensive seafood on the southern ...rural... end of town (st. cloud location) The stuffed flounder is pretty good. Fun outside deck and booze.

If you are on the east/south side of town we have a bunch of stuff -ten or so minutes from the airport - thai, japanese, etc. Let me know if you'd want those! Happy travels.

You could also try http://www.tijuanaflats.com/index.php since you said you like tortillas. Lots of those! :)

Thank you for your suggestions!
Katarina_Santiago: we are on International in a sea of chains. I think we are going to have a drive a bit to get good food.

Lauren - I'm right down the street from you, and yes, you'll need to drive into Downtown, Winter Park, or Altamonte Springs for a great dinner at a reasonable price. The chain restaurants on I-Drive, while predictable, are overpriced and you'll be hard pressed to find a mom/pop restaurant in the middle of tourist town.
Park Ave. in Winter Park is one of my favorite places to go - it's about a 20 minute drive, East on I-4 from International Drive and offers many wonderful restaurants...Bosphorous Turkish Cusine is one of my favorites!
