Masa en Nueva York?
Does anyone know where I can find the corn flour that is not the supermarket store kind, here in NYC. I wonder if there is a mill or something like that where I can buy a couple of pounds to keep at home and make my own tortillas, empanadas, etc!!. Thanks for any advice.!

I'm nowhere near NY, so I can't give you specifics, but in my area, all the shops that make tortillas will also sell the fresh masa (if that's what you're looking for -- it's wet rather than being a dry flour substance). It's also available refrigerated or frozen from some of the larger Mexican markets.
If you're actually looking for the dry masa, then I'm not sure what you mean when you say you want the stuff that isn't the supermarket store kind...the dry stuff is what you'd find in regular supermarkets. Again, I can't tell you where to look specifically, but in this area, every one of the regular chain stores sells dry masa of some sort, and many have multiple brands and kinds. You might see the wheat flour masa for flour tortillas, and corn masa for tortillas and corn masa for tamales. Make sure you check the bags and get the one that you want.

Please be more specific. Because spanish bodegas usually have Harina de Maiz and that is the one that I use for empanadas and arepas.

what are you looking for??? Masaharina? I know my friends who live in Queens get it easily. I would pressume that any Latin market over there might have it.
