Good Oil Gone Bad
Confession time: I have no idea how to tell if olive oil has gone bad. Generally, it doesn't last long enough for me to have to worry about it. That being said, I brought a bottle of fantastic olive oil home from Italy in May, and although it's almost gone, I'm wondering if it's going bad. There's a strange brown sediment in the bottom that's started to pour out with the oil. It doesn't smell or taste funny (of course I tasted it -- couldn't help it), but I've never had anything like this happen before. Is it bad? I won't be completely destroyed if it is, because like I said, only a few ounces remain, but I will be disappointed that I didn't get to use it all.
