Chelsea Market Eats?
I'm going to be spending a lot of time in and near there when I visit.
I like to eat mostly salads, especially if I can do my own at a salad bar, better If I can occasionally take with. But diner/deli, bread, sandwiches, treats and other stuff are also good.
So what's good in the Chelsea market?

many good things in the chelsea market: amy's bread, recently reviewed on SE:NY. Great breads, biscuits, sandwiches, salads, cakes, and bars. Good ice cream at Ronnybrook. Good gelato at L'Arte del Gelato. Good lobster rolls at The Lobster Place. Right outside the market are Morimoto, an excellent Japanese restaurant, and Del Posto, great for lunch or dinner on the Enoteca side of the restaurant.

and manhattan fruit exchange has every fruit and veggie imaginable and at great prices--grab a plastic knife and make a salad. then run over to sarabeths for cookies, pudding or of course--gelato from l'arte.
YUM.

in chelsea market there is also a hale and hearty soup, which has soups and salads. amy's bread is great for sandwiches and sarabeth's has some special-type sandwiches as well. there are tons of bakeries like ruthys and fat witch, both of which are amazing. old homestead steakhouse is nearby as is vento, an italian restaurant with outdoor seating. i like vento because it is good food and very reasonably priced.

the italian grocery store, buon italia, has a fantastic prepared food section in the back called zia tonia. they also have espresso and sandwiches up front. it's all heaven.

Doesn't the Fruit Exchange also have a salad bar?

A lovely fish market as well with ready-to-eat things like sushi, fish salads, smoked salmon mini-platters! Whew--also strolling up 9th avenue to 23rd or so--lots of wonderful bakers, bodegas, lunch spots. On 10th
Ave. there are more serious restaurants.
