Username change?

It's not imperative, but would it be possible to edit our usernames?

you could just re register, yes?

We keep asking for the ability to change even something as simple as your own email address within your profile, and keep getting promises of, "We're working on it". That this has gone on for far too long is both an understatement and your answer.

I'd follow sailordave's suggestion for timely results.

We aren't able to allow for username changes right now. LunaPierCook implies that we're ignoring this feature request, which is not true but obviously we are still working on it. I promise!

We can help you with updating/changing your email address, simply send an email with your request to support@seriouseats.com and we'll take care of it for you.

@Alaina, while I love this place and the staff as well, I asked for the email change almost exactly a year ago when I bought my url. The only time it's discussed is when something like this is requested. This is the only site I'm a member of where these things cannot be changed

But still, not being able to change my profile is the only complaint I have! Oh ... that, and my winning that Perfect Scoop book and y'all not following it up with a contest for an ice cream machine ... ;-)

Devil's advocate, here...

Some software doesn't have the edit features. When the staff says they are working on it, it seems that they may be looking at different software, which is a huge decision and a time-consuming process. Or, if they are lucky enough to have a techno-geek on staff who actually wrote the program, said geek may be held hostage to the daily running of the site.

I know it's nice to be able to change...my former home forum had that capability and some members changed their names weekly. I guess my only complaint about Serious Eats is that I haven't received my super-secret password to the "Naked Chef" picture section...will somebody PLEASE give it up to me???????

@thewrighttaste, I do understand all the techie stuff, and also what you're saying. MovableType, which is what I've heard SE is built on, is notorious for its lack of features in this area. The real question (I guess) is this: Is it currently impossible? If the answer is "Yes", that's what needs to be said.

No, you don't want the super-secret password to the "Naked Chef" picture section ... think Paula Deen and lots of butter ...

@LunaPierCook....

I'm crushed...all this time I could only envision Jaime Oliver in all his glory!

Thanks for the head's up!
