Tia Pol (10th Ave bet. 22nd & 23rd St.) is definitely the best Tapas destination. The fried chickpeas and Shishito peppers are awesome.

If you find yourself on Columbus Ave. between 73rd and 74th (Not far north of Lincoln Center), and you crave sushi, go to Tenzan. Their sushi is excellent and generously cut. Friendly service as well. OTOH, maybe someone could suggest something for you nearer to the stadium.

i'm only spending 1 day at the Open so the restaurants don't have to be close by, I am staying at the Warwick Hotel if there is anything within walking distance that I should look at.

classic NYC pizza - John's on Bleecker Street in Greenwich Village. A great strolling destination, you can take the 1 train from your hotel to Christopher-Sheridan Square...Bleecker is a good foodie destination, before or after your pizza, too - famous cheese and bread shops (Murray's and Amy's respectively), classic Italian bakeries that sell homemade Italian ices (among other things), fun people-watching.

If you like spicy Asian food, try Seoul Soondae in Flushing.

Definitely get the soondae if you're feeling adventurous (pig intestines doesn't match with everyone's taste buds, but it's actually quite good). Also, the Gamja Tang there is fantastic (Beef bone spicy stew with lots of potato, not sure where the bone comes from but looks like the backbone)
