State Fair Food-Chocolate Covered Bacon!

It's Minnesota's Great Get Together here in Saint Paul--and State Fair time brings out new (and crazy) food combinations. This year, one of the most talked about new fair foods is Pig Lickers, which consists of 4-5 short slices of crisp bacon covered in a thick coating of dark chocolate...described as smoky, chocolately and porky. Also new this year is a Pickle Sickle--frozen pickle juice push-up.

What are some unusual foods showing up at your state fair, serious eaters?

BACON.... bacon bacon bacon!!!

CHOCOLATE... chocolate chocolate chocolate!!!

Woohoo!!!

What were we talking about again?

Man that sounds good, no great, no artery clogging. :) I wonder if that will make it to the state fair in Oklahoma. I always love fried cheese and of course funnel cakes. I don't think there is any weird or unusual tastes here.

though he may. not be the first ever, Michael Symon came up with this on his first episode of Dinner Impossible:

and the "recipe," such as it is, is here:

This only aired in the last few weeks. If it was the first time these folks heard of this food isn't it amazing how quickly they put together a business to sell it!

I actually had a candy bar awhile back that had little bits of bacon throughout it. It was good, but not amazing. I liked the combination though, so I bet the slices of bacon dipped in chocolate would become an addiction for me.
