Real chicken and waffles near Harrisburg, PA

I live near Harrisburg, PA, and am looking for good choices in the Hbg, York, Lancaster area for Dutch-style chicken and waffles. The Hamilton Restaurant in Carlisle used to put out a great plate, but the last time I was there it had degenerated badly. I've stumbled across decent versions near Paradise, and to the west, beyond Chambersburg. Knoebels Amusement Resort is good, at their Alamo Restaurant, and I can't remember which diner near Doylestown (?) had the best I've ever found. I'd like a regular menu item, not an occasional special. Help?

Minor correction - I meant Downingtown, not Doylestown; specifically, a diner just west of town on the old Lincoln Highway, route 30, maybe named something like Riverview.

I'd be interested in learning what constitutes a proper plate of chicken and waffles. Is there maple syrup involved, or is it a chicken gravy sort of thing? Are there sides? Is this a Pennsylvania dish, or does one look for it in the South?

Growing up in the area, my family always served a chicken gravy sort of thing on top of waffles. I think in the South it's typically fried chicken and waffles eaten side by side.

a good bite is some chicken, some waffle, some syrup and some hot sauce

Someone may make a great waffle, and/or transcendental fried chicken, but placing them together on one plate does not constitute culinary invention. True chicken and waffles is a Pennsylvania Dutch treat, with the waffle smothered with stewed chicken, pulled off the bone and a good, rich gravy, or cream sauce.

neergwj,

Woop! The Iron Horse Inn, which is in Strasburg, has Chicken & Waffles as part of their "neighborhood menu". You can find it every night but Friday, I believe.

oh. Miller's Smorgasboard also has Chicken & Waffles, but who really wants to pay that much just for one item? Plus...just an icky place in general.

Go to Faye's Country kitchen in Carlisle, on Hanover St. It's a regular menu item and it's one of their signature dishes. It's only open for breakfast and lunch, but the food is excellent and the prices are great. If you go on the weekend, get there early, because they're realy busy, expecially Sunday morning when the church crowld come in.
