Picnic club
I have a picnic club during the summer months, we meet every other wednesday in central park. Wednesday is our last picnic of the season *sniffle*. in past picnics I have made cous cous salad, tea sandwiches, pie and I've done the crusty bread and cheese thing. I'm plumb out of ideas for Wednesday and was wondering if you fine people have any ideas to help a girl out. It needs to be able to travel and be pretty easy to eat but otherwise I'm eagerly awaiting ideas. Thank you guys!!

How about tortilla rollups with chopped ham and cream cheese and chives, easy to make and my personal all time finger food..

Ina Garten does great picnic stuff. Try some of these.

since its the last of the season, why not pull out the stops and go cliche? Fried Chicken. I like making potato salad and for an outdoor event, instead of mayo, try a good vinegrette, its a bit different, but goes great with alot of "picnic foods" . Anyway good luck and have a great time, I love your idea and may hijack it for next summer;-)

i hope I am still on time to give some ideas... I love dips and I love sandwiches, here are some of my ideas for you.
Veggie Dip - this works well as a dip or as a filling for a sandwich
Sweet Bell Pepper Dip - great with Wheat Thins
These Rosemary Almonds are great to snack on
A Tuno Antipasto - which is very different from the Italian antipasto kind -works great with crackers, warm or even at room temperature. A bit messy, but very delicious.
and maybe even bring a nice mixed drink - like a fruit punch with sparkling apple cider or even a wine spritzer...
Hope your picnic is lovely...

That is such a cool idea, I wish I knew anybody here in OK as that would be fun! I didn't really have any amazing ideas but I love egg salad with crackers but that might be to low brow ( but yummy).

I would make penne pasta, let cool, add pesto sauce (homemade or good quality store bought) and I add olives, parm cheese, green peas (frozen not the canned) and artichoke hearts, black and red pepper. But add whatever you like the choices are endless. I would like to join or organize something like that with fellow foodies in Seattle next summer.

make a veggie paella, bring some nice oranges and garnish w/ oranges, maybe some broccoli, basil or cilantro.
