OVER THE TOP Paula Deen's flirtatiousness!!!!!

Is it just me or does Paula Deen show way to much flirtatiousness with her guests. Then, when she has her husband come on she kicks him to the curb. It just seems like it's too much. I don't even watch the show anymore, it's embarrassing to watch her interact with people like that. I can remember watching her a while back and she just seemed like a fun loving respectful person. Now she acts like a old brothel queen.

Yes it is true!! I don't watch the show anymore because of that. It is very annoying. And sometimes she enjoys biting food and sharing that with her guests. Yuck!!!

She kind of reminds me of Blanche on the Golden Girls--if Blanche gained 50 lbs, and chased every man with a 55-gallon drum of butter-mayo-velveeta mix.

It has been told to me that Ms Deen is a real earthy person by someone from her publishing company and friends who work at QVC. She often says some very lascivious things and laughs her ass off. I admire her lust for life but not her passion for fat.
When I am as old as her I hope I have some 20 something intern running from me as I say off color things and spin naughty limericks.
Bless her!

I'm sure she's a very nice person..but that laugh and over the top personality is a bit much... that's why I love Nigella... cool, calm, classy, and oh so sexy!

Yes I noticed this, on her party show, she is out control, I can't watch it. Is she drunk?

This is the reason I can't stand Paula's Party. I too, am embarrassed about the way she acts. I'm certainly no prude, but I think it's inappropriate given that she's married, as are many of her guests. I don't think it's "all in good fun" I think it's over the top.

I love her laugh, and I do enjoy her other shows, don't make too many of her recipes, but I appreciate all the work she did to get where she's at now in life and I support that wholeheartedly.

I do agree with Jerzee when she says she hopes to have an intern running with off color comments, most of those COMMENTS are funny, but her ACTIONS are just too much. And I could do without the sharing of food and licking of fingers, etc. Ewww.

Maybe butter is an aphrodisiac.

@Brownie- hahahhaaha i think you figured it out!

I think if Paula were a guy grabbing his younger, female guests, we'd all be revolted by the scene. I think she's had to much to drink and isn't a bit funny when she harasses her guests like that.

I enjoy Paula's Home Cooking and her personality, but put her with people not related to her and she turns into Mrs. Hyde. I'd hide!

I gather her new show will have her cooking with others in her kitchen. If she can't behave, I'll be turning her off right quick, y'all.

I wonder how much of her actions are really hers and how much is FN directed. she seems much more herself of Home Cooking and much more forced on others. Lets face it, FN may think it'll boost ratings.

She is beyond sweet one-on-one. Put people in the room with her and she turns into an ass. I've seen Bobby Deen cringe at some of her behavior.

I ditto what chari said.

I think she is repulsive and borderline sexually harassing people. I find the Neeley's as repulsive with the kissing, gimme some sugar, blah blah blah.

Keep your bedroom behavior in the bedroom and cook the damn food.

I'm with Perky - I used to really like her on Paula's Home Cooking. In fact, I still enjoy that show when I catch it - not for cooking, just because there's something very grandmotherly and comforting in her personality. But I cannot watch Paula's Party at all - the few minutes of different episodes I've caught here and there made me feel so embarrassed and uncomfortable (and I don't find Neelys offensive. I don't watch their show because Gina's personality is too over the top, but their interaction doesn't bother me) that I had to change the channel right away.

I am also afraid that if I see any more of her Party, I will not be able to enjoy her on her Home Cooking any more as her image as the sweet Southern grandmother will be forever replaced by the image of an embarrassingly horny grandma who, it sometimes seems, would be more appropriate on "To Catch a Predator". Good for her, no doubt, but not on my TV screen - which is why I have my remote control and freely exercise my right to use it whenever I happen to come across Paula's Party.

I think we should all speculate more about who is and isn't "drunk," "drinking too much" or "on/off their meds" and so on.

Don't like to watch someone on television? Cool. Don't think much of a person based on what you see on television? Also totally fine.

But could we please, literally in the name of decency, shelve the unnecessary and entirely baseless comments on what substances may or may not be in play?

I don't like Paula's Party as a show, personally (though I've seen only a few minutes of it here and there, so that's a sense and not a totally informed opinion). But how on earth would I know whether she were on anything?

Paula, the Neeleys (and FN) need a heads up. Almost all of us enjoy silly, sexy stuff at certain times in certain places. Almost all of us DON'T like to watch others doing the same. There is a difference. Some, like Nigella, know how to stay just on the classy side of the line, as cambriana points out.

They have things called porn channels for the voyeurs.

I've never cared for Paula... her show makes me feel like I've gained weight just by watching it. And her personality is, as many others have said, over the top. Rachel Ray is high-energy, Paula Deen is maniacal!

PerkyMac, look at it this way--at least she's not flirting with people who ARE related to her!

Has anyone seen the episode where she cooks with Jimmy Carter? Before the cooking starts, he gives her a tour of his childhood home, and she kept commenting that she wanted to see his bedroom...commenting in a flirty way, like when a girlfriend wants to see her new boyfriend's room. I thought it was a bit odd to say the least.

Though she's often completely over the top and bordering on obnoxious, I have to agree with Jerzee Tomato. I only wish I could be as well off, heavily made up and as surrounded by young, attractive men when I'm her age. Hell, I'm twenty-three and have none of that going for me, it's something I aspire to.

That being said, sometimes when I'm suffering from horrible boredome, I'll watch Paula's Party and I'll literally have to flip the channel because she embarrasses me so badly. It makes me cringe for her, so I'd rather not watch.

No, CCBWEB, we can't shelve the comments. These folks have deliberately sought fame. They're fair game. And besides that, if you've only seen a few minutes of it, how would you know?

Get off the soapbox (again), please.

I apologize. That someone is on television certainly warrants declarations about their substance use/abuse problems.

I agree with ChelleyD01completely! I can't watch Paula Deen or the Neelys, they are so obnoxious and have absolutely no class!

I met Paula at a book signing, and she was genuinely warm and friendly. She did not personify a genteel southern grandmother nor did she act lewd and obnoxious. She fell somewhere in the middle, sharing funny and sometimes racy stories but nothing in poor taste. She stayed long after the close of the booksigning, just talking in general to a group of us and engaging us in conversation about our different food experiences. She was very charming and at the time, I wished I could have someone like her as my next door neighbor.

I agree that her recent behavior on FN has been outlandish, undoubtedly orchestrated by the powers that be at FN. They needed a BIG personality to replace Emeril Live, complete with his inuendos (playing with sausages, etc.). Enter Paula's Party. Unfortunately, they went way over the top. They exploited her natural tendancy to be a little baudy and went straight for lewd. I use my remote to tune her out, but I can't help but contrast the person I met to this tv personna. Please bring back the old/real Paula.

When I'm single, I'm an incorrigible (and effective) flirt. When I am happily tucked in a monogamous relationship, the idea never crosses my mind.

There's trouble in butterland.

Used to be a Paula fan. Now - not so much. Pitiful and sad, as is the entire excuse of a "food" network. If they (the producers, etc.) are truly orchestrating this, then more shame heaped on their heads. She's become a cliche and an embarrassment....bless her heart. She needs to say "NO" to the whole over-the-top behavior thing.

Used to be a Paula fan. Now - not so much. ...

@Chef Jo - I watched Paula for a very short time. I thought "why not know more about southern food??" She lost me the first time she ever used a pre-made biscuit dough. No, ah say no self respecting southern cook would EVA use such a thing! I had a nasty mind bending Shamdra Lee flashback and changed the channel.

When I saw how many shows they've shoveled onto Paula, I wrote them off as Emerilizing.*

* TVFN's habit of waaaay overexposing one or another personality until we can't get away from his or her image.

Paula's a real Southern gal......who flirts with men, other women, kids, even pets ......who usually respond by flirting back. I've lived in her community for 30 years and I can say she has been very animated every time I have seen her. The accent is real and many Southerners sound just like her. She and her family are very generous and support many local charitable organizations.
