NYC - Fatty Crab Alternative

I have plans for dinner with my in-laws tomorrow night. They suggested Fatty Crab, which sounds great, but I'm concerned that the line and noise might overwhelm. Any suggestions for a back up within walking distance? The whole meatpacking district thing seems a tough hurdle to coming up with a reliable and close by alternative. So far, my thoughts are Paradou and Barbuto. Any others?

Barbounia is a very nice, elegant, delicious Middle Eastern/Greek place right up the block (20th and Park Ave So,) - had dinner there recently with friends. The atmosphere is really lovely and though it's a touch loud, it's much less noisy than FC. Info from menupages.com here:

Good luck!

i am sure this is too late but here are my recommendations:
i am a huge fan of fatty crab, if you go early it is pretty mellow and not much of wait.

if you would like to stick with asian:
cafe asean - 6th/greenwich great casual atmosphere, cozy indoor/patio, malaysian/thai influences

also love paradou - i think they take reservations

another recommendation for the in area:

babuto, great for italian and the in laws to enjoy which is walking distance from fatty.

enjoy!
