Is It Safe?
I want to preface this by saying I don't know anything about the canning process or how it works or when you should do it or how it makes things safe, but that being said ...
My great uncle gave me a massive batch of tomatoes from his garden. They are beautiful and tasty and delicious, so I made a marinara sauce with them today that was out of this world. I told my boyfriend about it and he wants me to mail him some (he's off at school again).
Here's my question:
Is it safe to make the marinara sauce, put it in a mason jar without doing the whole thing where you boil the jars and seal them? Is it safe and also, can it go without being refrigerated- especially given the fact that I'm going to mail it without any refrigeration and it should take about three days to get there?
