In the Food Pages ....
This is kind of barn-door-closed, horse-gone but this San Francisco Chronicle article brings together several topics that recur often: banh mi and cocktail party menus & planning.
The Chronicle's food section is great. It's searchable archive goes back years. A great resource when you are looking for recipes.

I love the NYT food page on Wednesdays but it is admittedly inconsistent. Some Wednesdays it has teeth and other Wednesdays it's a non-event.

I have the Chronicle, NYT, Boston Globe and LA Times all bookmarked in one folder. I can open them all with one-click :-) And I do, religiously, every Wednesday.
You're right about the NYT -- when it's good it's really good though. But home-town bias aside (I live just south of SF) I think the SF Chronicle is the best. But the Boston Globe is pretty good too.

Thanks for the info.
I weep over Mark Bittmans' The Minimalist" in NYTimes.
His 100 lists of foods are wonderful, too.
Goiing to google the SF Chronicle, now. Thanks again.
