Help Me Help a Friend - Food Delivery in NYC?

A friend of ours in Manhattan had foot surgery today and will be confined to her apartment for a couple of weeks. I would like to have some food delivered (near Lincoln Center), but she is a little doubtful about this - sure that there will be lots of hidden fat and salt and very little nutrition. Since I'm on the other coast, could you help me out - please.

why not order some groceries instead of meals? like peapod.com?

@ sweetpotato - how does peapod.com compare with fresh direct? i wasn't too impressed with fresh direct when we tried it but i know other friends that swear by it.

@ islandexile go to Delivery.com and type in your friend's address (i think Lincoln center is 10023) and you will get a whole slew of places with menus etc, that you can order and pay online or your friend can when the food comes. They have Grocery delivery and restaurants (liquor too!) so I think it will give you a vast variety to choose from. Hopefully that is helpful.
Trader Joe's delivers as well but I am not shure if they deliver to midtown West.

seamlessweb works too.

You could also get a basket delivered from Zabar's or Russ and Daughters. Chelsea market also delivers things like that. The other ideas are good as well. Not sure what your friend is afraid of...NYC is the best place for that.

NYC is a haven for food delivery. Many Manhattanites never cook at all! Check menupages.com, which lists restaurants by neighborhood along with menus and reviews. If groceries are the priority, I find Fresh Direct to be reliable.

SeamlessWeb is all you need to know. Just enter your friend's address and you can see all the local restaurants that deliver to her.

There are generally healthy options and you can always enter special instructions when adding items to your order. I'm a picky eater, so I get a lot of mileage out of the special instructions feature - since it's printed right on your order, the restaurants (nearly) always gets it right.
