Adults and baby food?

Alright i have a secret craving to get off of my back.................... I love Gerber Strawberry-banana baby food (but only that specific flavor). Every once in a while I'll pop into a store, grab a couple, pay (self checkout of course) Then indulge. Is anyone else like this............

yup! i like baby food. I like the banana and the carrots.

I have a cuisinart, it purees all kinds of food. I can puree at will. Give it a try. It is pureed food that is essentially baby food, low in spice and seasonings. Now that you know that you can puree at will just like me.
My blender purees too btw.

I looked through some old pictures with my mom around 15 years ago, and we both looked at each other and giggled. We went to the grocery store and grabbed 3-4 bottles of my favorite baby food. Spaghetti, banana pudding, and a few other things...maybe applesauce, and some other meaty type concoction.

I took a bite of the spaghetti and then the banana pudding and spit it out. The bottles were immediately pitched. Wow, how could I like that stuff?!

I am extremely proud of preparing all of my food without salt and with a minimum number of herbs as possible, but I was not prepared for what I ate there. Talk about bland! :x

No offense to those who love it, rather, all my respect to those who love it.

Apricot baby food makes a great glaze. It holds up to the heat of cooking really well. Mix it with whatever herbs or spices you want for savory (i.e. chicken or pork) or sweet--I put it between the layers of chocolate cake when I want a chocolate/tart fruit combo.

My mom uses the pureed plums in a sweet-and-sour sauce. It's very good.

This reminds me of a baby shower game where guests try to identify the kind of baby food by tasting it.

Gerber's Hawaiian Delight. It's really good-- similar to a slightly ricey pineapple pudding. I have a jar in my fridge right now. :)

My adult cousins (with kids) always say they liked Blueberry Buckle as a kid and now :)

I don't have the balls to try the baby food, but I do love Gerber Apple Juice. My mom used to give it to me all the time, which may by why I have an intense love of apple juice to this day.

I've used baby applesauce on the rare occasion when a recipe will specify "one tablespoon of applesauce" because I don't want to buy an entire jar for such a small amount.

Other than that, the sight and smell of baby food makes me feel sorry for babies!

I don't have children, for those who do (or those who know): what is the point of baby food? Why can't you just feed small children bland, pureed versions of adult food?

I've always loved the Gerber Peaches!

A friend had gastric bypass surgery earlier this year and has to eat a lot of small meals throughout the day. I watched her slurp down some Gerber beef something or other and almost lost my cookies :P Must be an acquired taste.
I'm with bygnrd. Gerber Hawaiian Delight is great for a small snack.

Luckily I have a six month old so I can get as much baby food as may strike my fancy. I still like the vanilla custard.

Gerber Vanilla custard - - just the thought makes me smile and want to grab the car keys for a trip to the store :)

I think I would rather eat something pureed from Jerzee Tomato's cuisinart then from a jar with baby pictures on it. Maybe that's just me.

Chew on That

I’m developing a taste for Gerber’s as a result of a joke--One day in reply to a question about what I wanted for lunch I’d planned to reply “Gerber‘s strained prunes.” Well, the joke was on me because at the suggestion of a co-worker I tried Gerber’s apple sauce and loved it. Then I remembered that I liked Gerber’s strained prunes as a kid so I tried those, too. Now I’m hooked on Gerber’s fruits and puddings as supplements to many of my meals! Incidentally, I buy these items quite openly at the store and never have been made to feel embarrassed. :}

I don't understand how gerber rice cereal could taste like steak to me but it does and i eat it all day every day. I'm ashamed and fat from eating it but can't stop.

i have a confession to make. we were feeding my boyfriend's old, sick cat gerber strained beef because that was all he could eat. one night we went to babbo for dinner and i ordered the beef cheek ravioli. it smelled exactly like those jars of baby food!

I mix baby-food bananas with Fage Greek Yogurt and add some Splenda and sometimes cinnamon. Pretty tasty!

I put baby food carrots in my tomato sauce, if I have any in the pantry. I like chunky sauce, but not chunks of carrots in it (although I love chunks of carrots in tons of other things). It's just so easy and it flavors and sweetens the sauce, and is totally natural and organic. Carrot soup would get pretty expensive using baby food...LOL..

I remember when my littlest sister was still a baby, my middle sister and I would sneak tastes of the Gerber fruits and desserts -- not so much the meats of vegetables. I'd probably still eat them if someone asked me to =).

I used to love Gerber's banana but I haven't had it in years and I believe that most baby food manufacturers cut out some of the salt and sugar they used so I can't vouch for it now.

What I do love now is YoBaby yogurt by Stonyfield Farms. It is unbelievably delicious and the only fruit yogurt I like. I find all others disgusting, but this stuff? It's like the richest creamiest dessert ever.

Well I happen to be 49 & on an ever revolving door of foods and tatses. Now I live solely on raw milk from Organic Pastures & Earths Best baby food...fruit & veggies & some combos. Not to bad either as all organic. Check out EarthsBest.com or buy on Amazon as there are discounts until 2/28/09.
The way I see it is it's never too late to go back to your roots!

I have always loved Gerber's vanilla custard pudding!!!! But I can't find it anywhere. I think they quit making it and I'm very upset because it is the best tasting stuff in the world. I've never tasted anything like it and it seems like there's just no satisfactory substitute for it. If anyone knows where to find it, I would love if you could let me know! I will buy bulk! :D

@bygnerd and chisai -

blueberry buckle is quite possibly the most delicious baby food aside from plain pears...

and I buy yobaby yogurt at Trader Joe's whenever I get the chance. it's much thicker than regular yogurt and soooo delicious.

Okay, I must say I love peach baby food and those little puff things for tots! But being a teenager, and eating baby food can be a big problem! Mostly because I get odd looks from people in the check out line........and then everyone has to ask who is the owner of the baby food in the fridge at school.....which is always awkward. But now I'm chill with it, I mean it's just mushed up food, right?

I'm with chisai and mayoxqueen on YoBaby Yogurt!

It's the creamiest, most luscious yogurt ever... I couldn't believe it when I first tasted it before I fed it to my baby (who loved it, too!). I would finish whatever was leftover in the cup :p ... yummmm....

I use baby food fruits instead of real live bananas as a nice change in my banana bread recipe.
