A classic cafe with great espresso?
Okay, I will admit I frequent Starbucks once a week for when I am on the run, but can anyone recommend a classic cafe other than Cafe Reggio or Caffe Dante in the Village that let you sit and sip with friends? Atmosphere also counts: somewhere that allows for conversation, a cappuccino, and perhaps even a decent croissant. I don't want to see students typing away on their laptops, accessing free Wi-Fi, sneaking annoyed looks at people talking.

This is hard to find.. students and laptops are invading everywhere! Another place you might want to try--Cafe Angelique also in the Village. Haven't been there but based on some reviews, might have what you're looking for.

i like the coffee and treats at v bar (on sullivan), but am also scared of ordering too loudly because it is overrun by people tapping away at their laptops and it almost feels like a library...for sitting and hanging out, i think esperanto (on macdougal) is pretty cute.

Vbar is such a great environment, though definitely preferred at night.
