Southern peaches in NYC?

Does anyone know where I can buy Southern peaches (Georgia, Alabama, etc.) in New York? All the ones I've been buying have been from California and they just aren't quite the same. If you've seen Southern peaches while out doing your grocery shopping, please let me know where! Thanks in advance!

They may be more difficult to find now since it's toward the end of the season down there. If you are really serious about getting your hands on some, you could try ordering them online --you could try Lane's or Dickey Farms.

My Mississippian boyfriend is constantly chastizing my Yankee idea of what area comprises the South, so keep that in mind. On my walk to work this morning, I bought about 4 lbs of Big Smile peaches from South Carolina, 79 cents a pound at a deli on 2nd Avenue between 61st and 62nd. No idea what the name is, but it's near a Tasti D-lite and always has really fresh flowers out front. The peach I had was delicious, too.

Not sure what hood you're in, but you might want to try Fairway also.

savecara, thank you!! That's only a few blocks from where I live, so I will swing by on my way home from work. I appreciate the feedback!

If anyone in Brooklyn is looking, I've been getting Georgia peaches at Pacific Green on Court St. in Cobble Hill. I haven't had to let them sit to ripen and they've been delicious. The ones I got yesterday were huge, too.
