Polar Bear, nom nom nom
How many of you have had Polar Bear meat?!
There is a crazy shot of it on the freakonomics blog today.
Note, it is not for the faint of heart. So if you're a hardcore vegan... uh, you don't want to see this. And I preface this by saying, if you have strong reactions to eating polar bear meat, look at the picture first, get the natural reaction you have, then read that entire blog post.
It's the last picture on that page.
For the record, I think it's really cool.

I could never support the killing/eating of endangered species.
But at least the last few paragraphs make some sense, regarding them starving to death otherwise, because of the situation.

No problems with me! Endangered species or not, there's NOTHING more "natural" and "good for the earth" than eating, rather than wasting, what is already dead (or doomed to death.)
Pammeh at 4:53PM on 07/18/08
We're all doomed for death, eventually. Let's just eat each other.
COOL.

And some day our sum will explode, if it has't burnt out!
In either case, life as we know it will end, polar bears and all.

This is really morbid.......

I would imagine it would be like a large, fishy possum (with the layer of fat over the fatty meat). However, don't they have enough problems surviving without having to contend with us hunting them?

I question .....what's the point of eating flesh from a starving animal in the first place???? I don't get that ? COOL IS TOTALLY THE WRONG WORD USAGE HERE. !

@grizz518
I know you're probably talking about the cool comment from foodinmouth, but I just wanted to make sure you knew 'my' cool remark was about eating each other (people eating people), and it was only a joke.... well, for the most part. ;)

@FFC ~ I got what you meant

@everyone
I thought it was awesome, and I stand by saying that the post was cool. You may disagree.
I have never tasted polar bears before, and probably would never even think about hunting them down. The author of that post noted the situation and why the polar bear was killed in the first place. I take their explanation at face value and believe 100% in their M.O.
So to rehash, if it is going to die anyway, and the animal is perfectly edible, and they like the taste, then yes. I think it is cool. If I had the opportunity, I would eat it to try it out. If you think that makes me a monster, good for you.
foodinmouth at 12:48AM on 07/21/08
i don't see anything wrong with eating Polar Bear. for the polar bears, the poor thing was going to die of starvation anyways, why not give it a quick death, and feed some other people in the process?
if i'd come across this thread 10 years ago, i would have been ranting and raving about how aweful it is, and how the bears should be rescued and sent north to their natural habitat, and blah blah blah. maybe i've gotten conservative in my old age, but as long as you eat as many parts of the animal as possible, and don't over farm it, what's the big deal?
