My Favorite Bagel Ever is.....
Eli Zabars. I moved from NYC a few months ago, and miss terribly not only the bagels, but also the great deli food. I thought there may be a lot of us out there, so I wanted to let you all know that you can get these bagels from anywhere that you are. They can be sent- check them out here:

it's not the best, but my local bagel joint in murray hill makes a very very tasty (always hot & fresh) whole wheat sesame.

Le Bagel on 1st Ave between 15-16 Aves. Soooo much better that Essa Bagel which is near them and touted by the media.

Block's Bagels in Columbus, OH...
Too far away for even a weekly sojourn, but a treat that we work in when we can.
No offense to any resident of the beautiful state of Louisiana intended - after all, you have your own delectable treats. But, working in the area for 8 months left me SERIOUSLY bagel deprived. The 14 hour drive usually started too early in the morning for a stop a Block's, but I loved the weeks when we could set out a little later and I would go out of my way to pass by for a fix!

Not many choices available here. But a nice, warm Einstein Bros tastes very good.

I feel like you're not allowed to name a favorite bagel place outside NYC, and I can't! The one near my friend's apt in Brooklyn, or the one my aunt and uncle took me to when I was 11.

I love Murray's! Also Essa Bagel, though they can be sort of mean. Bergen Bagels in Brooklyn is great too.

St. Viateur Bagels in Montreal. A five-hour car trip for me, but I regularly go.

We visited my daughter in Astoria, Queens. We ate at Brooklyn Bagels each morning. They were very good. I wanted to try H & H but haven't made it there, yet. I know you can get them by mail order.

Just in case you're wnodering what MY favorite bagel is, it's from a place called Upper Crust Bagels in the suburbs of Chicago. Their egg bagel with plain whipped cream cheese is my personal breakfast heaven.

my city doesn't offer much in the way of quality bagels (Big Apple Bagels - there ain't nothing Big Apple about you!). the best bagels i've come across are the ones i learned to make myself. chewy, salty, and not too big.

Gotham bagels in Madison, WI: Super egg everything with plain cream cheese. Better than you would expect from a midwest bagelry.

I think H & H is way overrated. I looooooove Essa and Murray's, and I just moved to Brooklyn and have a Bergen Bagels down the street from me on Myrtle Ave. Heard excellent things, I gotta try it soon.

Hartman's Bakery in northwest Baltimore. Crispy on the outside and soft and squishy on the inside. And to tell you the truth, I haven't had a bagel like it since they closed in 1969! And while we're on the subject does anyone bake onion bagels with real carmelized onion anymore? I've said it before and I'll say it again. Nothing has been bastardized in the last 20 years like bagels!!!

The everything flat bagels from Hot Bialys on Queens Boulevard in Queens. Toasted and spread with vegetable or chive cream cheese. Yum.

I miss living in st louis as right down the block there was a bagal shop where they were DIVINE. they made all kinds of cream cheese and were so good. i moved away 5 yrs ago and still talk about it. I don't have a single bagel shop in the podunck town i live in now. but i have been thinking of trying to make my own but i haven't worked up the nerve.

OMG I was just thinking about bagels the other day. I loved Bruegger's Bagels. I loved the bagel with all the toppings with their chicken salad and harvarti cheese (the best chicken salad I ever had), but they pulled all the Bruegger's out of Washington state (sniff sniff). I would pay for everything if someone would overnight me a big tub of the chicken salad from Bruegger's?
