Mmm..fancy bar food

I've been perusing my addiction, Tastespotting, and came across this great looking recipe:

Does anyone have any ideas on if it would be a good idea to bake these rather than fry? Time/Temp alterations?

Years ago Emeril made them baked. There is probably a recipe on FN. I don't believe I have ever had them baked. But I don't like the ones with cream cheese filling.

@Adam: Holy fbombs, I'm already hooked!

ehhh....forget what you heard about that frying crap... pioneerwoman makes bitchin' japs.

halve some japs
scrape the seeds/membranes
stuff with cream cheese OR
cream cheese mixed with ranch powder OR
cream cheese mixed with shredded cheddar OR
whatever you feeling stuffing in them
(our fave is crumbled cooked and drained hot italian sausage with smoked cheddar mixed with cream cheese then slapped with the bacon and a smear of maple syrup on the bacon.....YEOWZA!! spicy, salty, sweet, savory, creamy, cheesey...)

put the stuffed jap half on a foil lined cookie sheet on a baking rack. (trust me)

slap a 1/3 of a slice of bacon on the cream cheese. sorta smush it on there.

bake em for awhile about 300-325. You want the jap to get kinda cooked and the bacon crispy and the filling oozey.

eat em out of the oven. slap em on a burger. eat em dancing naked in the streets. whatev. its good, easy stuff.
