Foods You Indulge Yourself With

So, I have had the worst 2 weeks at work. I am looking to indulge myself this weekend. I don't care. Be gone with you diet! (I will also look at the posts sent for my corn on the cob question-thanks to all who participated.) This brings me to my point...I want to know what you splurge on. I don't care if it's salty, savory, sweet, comfort food, any food category applies-divulge the dish(es).:)

44 Comments:

I started this process last night and went to a Fave Japanese Restaurant. We ordered the (delicious!!!) Lobster Tempura for an appetizer; Salmon, Shrimp, and Filet Teriyaki (the BF choice for dinner); and (my heavenly selection) Lobster Carpaccio for dinner. Of course there was Sushi to-go.

Wonder what the rest of the weekend will bring...:)

Honey Nut Cheerios or Cheerios (the plain, yellow box version)

Popcorn (it's the crunch factor; but only air-popped)

Pizza (Neapolitan)

Chocolate Cake (specifically, Linda's Chocolate Fudge Cake from the Cheesecake Factory)

Heinz Baked Beans (the UK version)

@Butrflygirly ~ My multigrain nachos with extra cheddar cheese fail miserably in comparison to your most recent indulgence!

tiramisu or cheesecake work wonders for everything except my waistline.

Homemade baked goods! There's something very indulgent about whipping up a batch of cookies knowing they're just for you.

My go to indulgence when I feel beaten up is generally carb based. Cheese is a plus and meat is nice sometimes. Pasta, pizza, dumplings, grilled cheese, french fries (cheese fries with gravy anyone?), cheeseburger, etc. A very figure-unfriendly way to chase away the blues.

Ice Cream or Chocolate or Choclate Ice Cream.

But also... A big, fresh steamed artichoke. A perfect mango. A perfectly ripe avocado. Really good tea. Tankyada Gluten-free pasta. Italian Fontina cheese.

Yes, also ice cream. It's tough to find natural, no-preservatives ice cream that is low in saturated fat and sugar and doesn't cost an eye of the face, so when I've had a bad whatever, ice cream it is! Vanilla bean with natural peanut butter and whipped cream on top, or something really disgustingly rich like Ben & Jerry's chocolate brownie. So have to be in the right mood for consumption though.

Hi there sister, I'm so sorry to hear about your hard time at work, but so pleased to see you're making up for it in the food indulgence department!

I have several ways to indulge myself. One is going out, and the best place for that is my favourite Japanese restaurant :-), although there are several others that can make the cut. Another one is staying in, in which case I may go for an exceptional wine and cheese selection. Yet another one includes creme brulee :-).

I'm sorry to hear you had a bad week :( Try these! They work for me!

Peanut butter SMOTHERED over a banana (like 1 inch thick)

Honey Roasted Peanuts over chocolate or banana pudding

Doritos (ranch) dipped in extra hot salsa

French fry nachos (fries with nacho toppings including ranch dressing and chili if you can)

in-n-out burger, garlic bread and a big bowl of pasta, anything with brie, and cheesecake.

@izatryt: It was good too. I was in heaven. And the wine I had was a nice companion. :)

@jlbrach: cheese fries with gravy? What is that exactly? Can't get that around my parts...

@Brooke: Hi there sister! :) Thanks...There is wine in the fridge already (BF picked it up for me today). Ooohhh, LOVE Creme Brulee. One of my faves to order while out (never made it for myself). I like it so much I bought A Yankee Candle that is this scent. :) LOVE my bedroom even more now...

French fry nachos sound interesting..

@Megan: Can't get in-n-out in my area, but everything else sounds delish!

@Butrflygirly - you're killing me! I have two Yankee Jar Candles in Creme Brulee:-).

Let's see....pizza, burgers, buffalo chicken sandwiches, ice cream, and fries. All that good stuff your body tells you not to eat.

Hillary
Chew on That

@Butrflygirly: They're good! Greasy goodness.... I personally like a handful of jalepeneos, sharp cheddar, tomatoes, and the chili of course!

Definietly worth trying on a 'bad' day!

@Brooke: No way!! How awesome are they? Sooo good. I bought the big one too. Then again there are many Yankee Candles that are spectacular. So upset when Banana Bread stopped and even more upset when Fresh Peach ceased to exist.

Cheesecake Blizzard at DQ...
Nutella on anything...
Really good cheese...
McD's fries...

DeBrand Chocolate Decadence...an ultra smooth dark chocolate torte topped with white chocolate whipped cream & dark chocolate sauce..Mmm.

Or a pint of Haagen-Dazs...any flavor.

Carb-laden breakfast food - pancakes, french toast, coffee cake, nutty granola, etc.

Really good tea or a cappuccino, definitely.

A grilled cheese sandwich with sharp cheddar and fresh tomato slices.

pasta with some type of cheesy goodness followed up with salty caramel dipped in chocolate........oh me o my!

Fresh-baked Acme bread--1+ pound a day is a delicious and (arguably) "healthy" indulgence :P

Junk food - Doritos are my go-to old-school snack

CHOCOLATE - depending on the mood, I'll go for fancy and exotic to savor or nostalgic bars for a quick nosh

Pumpkin bread does the trick for me. Or, I've gotten into a habit of mixing plain, nonfat yogurt, a couple spoonfuls of canned pumpkin (like Libby brand), cinnamon, nutmeg, and ground cloves, and a packet of splenda. Stir it up and it's like pumpkin pie without the shell (it's especially good it you freeze it for 20 min or so). If you like pumpkin pie, this little dessert can boost a mood! (Sprinkle it with granola, crushed cereal, or graham cracker crumbs for a bit of crunch!)

I'm kinda a pumpkin freak...

Pancakes will do the trick, or waffles with chocolate chips sprinkled on top when its still warm. Don't forget the whipped cream!!

I am repulsive, but here goes: when I've had a particularly crap week, I'll basically eat all of the crunchy, salty skin off of a chicken. Yep, the whole thing. It's a miracle I'm alive, but it makes me feel sooo much better.

I make a quick and easy pasta sauce in the microwave out of cream cheese, 4 cloves of garlic, a little milk, Caesar dressing, and butter.

Cheese; expensive, gooey, runny, stinky cheese on bread or crackers.

Warm chocolate brownies with vanilla ice cream. Ice cream in general -- some bad days, I come home, get out the ice cream and have a few spoonfulds. I feel better instantly!

I just put a choc fudge cake in the oven and made a recipe of spicy fudge frosting to go with it. LOL i understand bad weeks ;-) enjoy your weekend hun and forget about the bad stuff!

Grilled cheese sandwiches drpping huge greasy neon orange globs.........of VELVEETA. (don't tell my chef)

I'll make chili and pour it over Fritos with lots of cheese, onions and sour cream in a bowl. The left over chili will hit nachos, burritos, omelets.
And of course Ice cream is my go to when I have work woes .

Whataburger gets me through when I am down. There are 2 within half a mile of my house.
We have had a very trying year and when depression hit me, I either headed to the kitchen to bake pies and cookies or make high carb casseroles or long cooking stews, but the Whataburger thing is probably healthier as there are no leftovers!

a great pizza margherita for sure! or, if i'm at home, great bread with great cheese, stuck under the broiler until melty and toasty and yummy. wait, didn't i just say that that was what i cook for myself whenever i'm home alone? possible connection between the two topics...?

Well I have these maybe twice a year from a place but I make them on my own. Fried pasta chips smothered in ground italian sausage, roasted peppers, olives, jalapenos, mushrooms mozzarella, provolone and melted asiago. Money. Otherwise, def onion rings or clam pizza.

@pumpkinbear - are we related? DH just went out of town (out of the freakin' country - waaaaah!) for a week and the last thing I had him buy me was the most obnoxious cheese I could find. I'm sure it was once cheese-shaped, but the vendor actually had to scrape it off the cutting board to put it in the container!

That, some olives, and a good wine (oh, and maybe some chocolate biscuits) and I have dinner for the week!

oh, or sushi and beer if I feel like driving to go get it...

Patti LaBelle's "Over the Rainbow" Mac and Cheese does it for me. Four types of cheese (Velveta is one) a ton of cream and it is to die for, which I would do if I ate if very frequently.

Bloomingdale's in Chicago has the best damn coconut cake I've ever had in my life. It has either pudding or pastry cream between the layers. Well worth my $5 and change. I'm still trying to figure out what bakery it comes from.

I just ate 1/2 a Little Caesar's Pizza. Now I'm working on a pineapple. Not sure what will follow. Can you tell this has been one of those weeks?

Y'all are killing me!!!!

Seven days a week in the kitchen, baking and (for the next few months, anyway) making fruit butters and jellies to sell, and you are sending me in there to be bad.

And I didn't even have a bad week!!!!

I know we're having ribeyes for dinner, but I think we're going to have WAY too many sides and desserts.

Oh, that reminds me...I have blackberries that must become cobbler TODAY!!!!

@onepercent99--Booker's is good stuff, a bit hot for me...I'm more of a Basil Hayden's kind of a gal.

My husband's had a bad month (had to spent his b-day alone, the road in front of his restaurant is detoured due to construction on some old bridge, and his father recently passed) so ever since I got back to town, I've been cooking and baking. Tonight it's vichyssoise, veal milanese with an arugula salad, and a chocolate cake. Tomorrow it's a Southern feast--fried chicken, collard greens, sweet corn, macaroni and cheese, and sweet potato biscuits. I'm sweating just thinking of the heat in the kitchen.

Chocolate....chocolate...and yet more chocolate....especially filled ones.
Try it.

I wish I can write just one thing, but it all depends on my mood. But list is ( not in any given order)
Dick's Drive Inn Cheeseburger's and fries with side of their tartar
Pizza dripping and oozing cheese and toppings
Schultzy's fries
Any kind of sweets
Pho or any soups
Mac and cheese with ketchup on it
Mexican everything
Basically alot of crap.
