Finally...No Longer Rice-Impaired

I know rice cooking has come up before on this site. I know this because I'm one of the unfortunate ones. I can screw up a pot of rice in twelve different ways. So tonight, I was too lazy to pull out the rice cooker. I cooked it on the stove top, and IT WORKED!!!

Chiff- I thought of you!

Funny, I thought Chiff posted this:-)

@Kerosena - congrats!!!!

too lazy to pull out the rice cooker? that's like being too lazy to open the microwave and cooking something in the oven instead.

((Sniff, sniff)) The League of Rice Impaired Cooks will be sorry to see you go, Kerosena. But move forth and create fluffy grains for both of us. I'm going to break out my rice cooker and hopefully will have success with that. Consider it "training wheels" for possible stovetop attempts.

((Applause)) Congrats!!!

Thanks, Chiff.

Unarata: ha-ha. I guess I should explain... my apartment is tiny, so the rice cooker lives in storage in the basement with its friends toaster and crock pot. And spiders. There are spiders down there, too.

AH! Ok - the spiders would make me more than willing to break out stovetop methods of cooking!

mmm spidery rice.

I have always had great success with cooking rice on the stovetop. After reading the highly entertaining comments -thanks for the laughs at the end of a very long week - I guess I have been lucky, I always just follow the directions on the back of the bag of rice! I have noticed that different types of rice have different cooking instructions on the bag.

I have donated most of my cooking appliances like food processor, electric steamer, microwave oven, etc. since I found I do not use them. However, I cannot do without my slow cooker and Foodsaver vacuum sealer. I use those two on a regular basis!
