Does anyone drink Tuaca?

I was introduced to this italian liquor while in DC last summer. It seems to be the after work shot of choice for the service industry. It's fantastic. Does anyone else like this and have mixer recommendations?

I love tuaca- I was first introduced to it in Denver. I like to mix it with diet ginger ale and limes, and lots of ice!

i recently had it when i was in breckenridge, co. i am not one for shots or liquor but i really enjoyed it. i only had it as a shot, not as a drink. will try next time i have it though.

HHHhhhmmmmm... that might be just the liqueur for drizzling on the cake in my July 4th trifles...

That is the worst ligueur I have ever had. I put it in my mouth and would have spit it out if I wasn't in public. The worst. EVER.

I love Tuaca! My friend's bar in Leesburg was allegedly the largest seller of it on the East Coast for a while there.

I don't do shots of it (totally over doing shots).
My thing with Tuaca is on the rocks, lots of rocks, about 2/3 Tuaca and 1/3 Tia Maria or Kahlua. Great after dinner drink.

Espresso Martini with Tuaca: Vanilla vodka, shot of espresso, tuaca, shake over ice, strain into martini glass. This is less sweet than the kahlua/vanilla vodka/espresso version.

In my drinking days, the sidecar was my drink, and my favorite sidecars were made with Tuaca. I never liked it alone, though.

What kind of flavor does it have?

blegh. Tuaca. blechhhh. ptoooey

@Kerosena--This is from the back of the bottle:

"Born in Italy's northern Tuscany region during the golden age of the 16th century Renaissance, Tuaca is a premium golden amber liqueur redolent of fine aged brandy and elegantly focused Tuscan fruit essences. Artfully blended with hints of vanilla and orange flavors, Tuaca is distincitively smootha and immediately appealing.
Tuaca Liquore Italiano can be enjoyed as a chilled shot or mixed in your favorite cocktail."

While it seems to have gained recent popularity as a shot, it has obviously been around for quite awhile.

In the winter, it is GREAT in eggnog!

Sometimes, I'll have a Tuaca and soda water with a splash of gingerale and it tastes like an adult DocBrown's cream soda.
And I'll repeat that I love it on the rocks with a little Tia Maria.

I forgot to mention that instead of a rum-sauce for bread pudding, I've made a Tuaca sauce and it was excellent!

Wow--I sound like a Tuacaholic.

@Bisbee: I hear ya!! I've been watching this thread to see if anyone felt the same way as I. Was starting to feel like I was the only one. Good to know I am not. :)

I'd try the hell out of it.

My daughter who was a bartender in Albuquerque briefly says they would prepare a shot of Tuaca with a sugar rim and serve it with one or two lemon wedges doused in bitters and covered with as much sugar as will stick. The lemon is for biting after you drink the shot. It's called at Hot Flash.

One of my favorite "end of the night" bar drinks is Tuaca with an equal part of Grand Marnier. The combination is much softer than straight GM and has an extra kick that Tuaca lacks. It's actually become rather popular in my favorite watering hole although I have yet to come up with a good name for it.

Not since that time when the bartender kept giving me free ones. But for that one evening, I enjoyed it.

Yes! There was some Tuaca special at this chain of bars when I was in college in Philly. Being drawn towards specials, we enthusiastically ordered the Tuaca Red Bull, only to find that it was...DELICIOUS. I'm actually sad that I don't see it used in more drinks around here.

I like tequila SOOO much better. I'll do any shot other than Tuaca. Oh wait, won't do a Snake Bite either.

I was introduced to Tuaca in the "Hot Apple Pie" cocktail. Hot apple cider, cinnamon stick, Tuaca, and whipped cream. Excellent by the fire on a cold night.

There's a good article on Tuaco from the Washington post in April...

I might have to try that Hot Flash!

A shot of Tuaca combined with a shot of espresso, is wonderful after a nice meal.

I lived in Italy for a few years, but never ran into Tuaca. Will have to give it a try

We had one spectacularly inebriated Christmas with my family (we're Irish, and we drink unapologetically during holidays and family get-togethers, but limit to a glass of beer or wine w/dinner the rest of the time). My aunt's boyfriend, new to the fold at the time, brought Tuaca, which he claimed was the designated drink of his motorcycle club when they would stop and camp for the night on long rides (I rather liked the idea of bikers swilling orange-scented Italian brandy). THe family liked the Tuaca so much that, after a few indulgences, started to sing the "Tuaca Song"...which is basically the song "Tomorrow" from the musical "Annie", but with the word "Tuaca" substituted for "tomorrow" and the word "shot" substituted for "day" in the chorus. Try it...you won't look at the song or the liquor the same way again...I've been a bartender for years, and I STILL giggle whenever anyone orders a shot of Tuaca.

The best drink with tuaca is mixing hot water, lemon juice, honey and tuaca. Its so good for a cold day, relaxing in a hot bath, or when you have a sore throat too. It is by far my favorite hot drink. it is even delicious without the tuaca!

Tuaca and A&W rootbeer is really good.
