Berger Cookies

I just read about Baltimore's Berger cookies in a recent issue of Saveur and would very much like to try some. It seems that the recipe is closely guarded, but I was wondering if any of you have tips for making them at home. Thanks in advance!

This looks like a good recipe:

barring that, you can order them at:

HA! I just bought a package last night! I would recommend trying the original ..they are totally worth it!

Thanks for the link, cambriana. I guess I'll try both and see how it goes!

I would reccomend ordering them, or making a special trip to buy some. They used to only be for sale in Highs dairy stores or from Bergers themselves.

Yeah--you really have to have the original. It's so much chocolate fudge frosting it's almost nauseating (in a good way). They aren't really my thing, but I respect the original. I do find (gasp!) the cookie part to be kind of dry and boring, but the frosting is tops.
Linz0--wondering if you are in Baltimore as well?--Linzs are almost as plentiful in Bawlmer as Berger cookies...you're welcome to e-mail me privately...
