Funny you should mention that.
I just bookmarked the thing today intending to do a blog post on it tomorrow.
Interesting stuff.

At my work, the man who sat at my desk before me would put bacon salt on everything. EVERYTHING. That, I think, has put me off of bacon salt forever.

I ordered the Hickory flavor, but so far, have only used it with scrambled eggs and roasted potatoes. Pretty good -- but I'd be interested to see how others have used it.

Has anyone tried the "Natural" Bacon Salt? I am trying to decide if I should get the three pack that has Original, Hickory, and Pepper (I think), or the four pack, which includes Natural. Let me know. Thanks!

I am curious about Bacon Salt, too, but could see it becoming a dangerous addiction! I also love regular bacon so much, not sure this hybrid/substitute of sorts is necessary for me.

I put some on my egg that I poached in my Poach Pod this morning. Then put the poached egg with Bacon Salt on a multi-grain English Muffin. YUMMY!

It is fascinating stuff. It's frighteningly accurate, considering it's vegan and Kosher.
I want to use it in frosting. Bacon-salted caramel cupcakes?

Anyone know if this can be bought locally or do we have to order from the website? Dying to try it.

Wow! Yet another food discovery thanks to SE bloggers! I just ordered the 3-pak. DH has cholesterol issues, so bacon is out for him. I just made his day.

I have to say; if it wasn't for this site and you awesome folks, I would feel like a mushroom. ;-D I learn the most amazing things!
izatryt at 7:48PM on 07/30/08
It's vegetarian. There's no bacon in it!

OMG. This stuff is actually sold in the town I live in...at a Pool and Spa store. Not a grocery, not anything food-related, but a place that sells swimming pools and spas.
I gotta go there. It's too weird.

ok thats it bacon is a major love of mine and salt is my first true love! hmmm peanut butter and bacon salt sandwich? i've always been too afraid of making my heart explode instantly to try the real thing, but with bacon salt..... I'm seeing lots of possibilities! hehehehe too weird to not try!
huneybumper at 7:30AM on 07/31/08
I wanted to like this...I really did. I bought the "original" today. Was hoping to find the Natural, but the store said they wouldn't have that until the next shipment. I tasted a bit, just plain, to see if it was truly bacony and wonderful.
Sadly, I can taste the MSG. This does not make me happy.
I'll still try this on veggies or something, but I'm not as giddy with joy about this as I thought I would be. I may still but the natural, since that doesn't have MSG, but I'm sooooo glad I didn't buy the whole collection.

erg. Edit button, where are you.
Last line should be: I may still buy...

So I mentioned bacon salt to my Other Half this morning, and off he went to our local Stop & Shop shortly thereafter. He returned all chuffed and proud of himself, bearing a bottle of Hickory flavoured bacon salt!
Tonight we had a pizza night. I made two small pizzas, a tomato sauce based cheeseless pizza with caramelised onions, garlic, peppers, sausage and turkey bacon for my OH, and pizza bianca (olive oil, mozzarella and pecorino romano) for myself. We both sprinkled our respective pizzas with bacon salt, and I have to tell you, I loved it! Since my pizza was relatively plain, it really gave the bacon salt a chance to shine, and I loved the subtle smokiness that it added. I was very pleased, and so was my OT.
