What's for dinner?

I just want to know, what you are having for dinner tonight?

35 Comments:

I'm going to the pub for the Cubs game, so I'm guessing it'll be a plate of fish tacos.

It's cold and rainy out here in Southern Manitoba Canada;
so I'm having cream of leek soup!

My husband has been begging (or bugging:-)) me for a week now, so I give up - prawn & spinach risotto it is!

Oh, and the only reason he had to beg - it's too bloody hot right now! But today seems to be somewhat better...or perhaps it's just wishful thinking:-).

Steak! I'm not making it though so I'm not sure how it will be prepared, but I can't wait!

Chew on That

Jerk chicken on a salad of greens, nectarines, goat cheese and walnut. Then I'm cleaning my apt :(

Kudos to you, Brooke. I loooove risotto but it has indeed been way too hot to spend the time in a hot kitchen over a hot stove making it properly.

I was debating just making salad (freaking heat wave) but whenever I make something light BF goes digging through the cabinets and ends up eating my snacks for work. I was contemplating risotto, too, if the a/c reaches the kitchen and I can stand sitting over a stove for 40 minutes! If not it'll probably be stir-fried veggies with pasta and pesto.

I'm making spaghetti and meatballs, made with ground buffalo, and fresh green beans.

a nice big, cold shrimp cocktail. We just survived 4 days of 90ยบ +

I'm grilling salmon and making a salad of mixed greens, blueberries, raspberries (berries were on sale hurrah!), toasted almonds, goat cheese, green onions, with a little good balsamic and olive oil. Man it sounds good.

Chicken enchiladas with pepper jack cheese sauce and herby (my word) green sauce.

i have some leftover boston butt that i smoked this weekend, gonna dice it up with onions an plenty of fresh garlic, saute it for a while then add some mojo marinade to the pan an cook while i make black beans an yellow rice to go with it..........

@ lo82070 : Is that your own recipe? That sounds sweet~! (Salmon on the salad too right?)

Just got my 3 month grocery order delivered. I've been missing fresh fruit and veggies and now I'm really stocked up. If I start eating the cherries, strawberries and blueberries, I might not have room for anything else. Just had a grilled reuben for lunch. I sure do miss the days when I could stop and shop every day if I wanted. Now, I'm just glad to have fresh in the house again. Off to aqua therapy with a smile on my face!

I'm thinking iced tea.

Because I just ate an entire 12 inch jalaroni (jalapeno/pepperoni) pizza for lunch, at 3pm.

So yeah. Iced tea.

Tonight I will be dining on a fine selection of Fast Food:

- Subway's foot long meatball sub.

- Onion rings from Burger King.

- The new hand-spun version of Wendy's Frosty shake.

It's not all fun and games. Yesterday I ate a Veggie Burger from Burger King. I still have a strange after-taste in my mouth that won't go away, and occasionally see bright orange flashes whenever I look at other food. I suppose that's from the fake-meat's eery orange-ish glow that burned itself into my eyeballs.

Turkey cheeseburgers, no bread, with onion&pepper sofrito and chipotle barbecue sauce.

A friend is coming over for dinner and I am making what's in the fridge -- Caesar salad, penne with zucchini, and home made chocolate and cinnamon ice cream. I think she's bringing ingredients for making margaritas!

You all are making me hungry and jealous! :D

Since the DH is out of town I am too lazy to cook well for myself (I know..I should anyway...) so it will be lettuce from the garden either as a salad with other fresh veggies and goat cheese/toasted pine nuts, OR a really boring tuna sandwich....

Or maybe I will close my eyes, point to one of the above posts, and go there for supper!! Knock-knock! :)

Ground turkey tacos with beans, peppers and cilantro from my garden!

Beer can chicken ... again! I made it this past weekend (2, actually) for friends while I was out of town, but I keep finding whole chickens for cheap at the store so I'm going to make another one :) I also found a really great recipe for curry chicken salad, so I'm almost anticipating the leftovers more than the actual meal :P

I've been meaning to try BK's Indiana Jones double Whopper, mainly because I'm curious what "blackened cajun mayonnaise" is.

Dinner is up in the air since I went to a party after work and still a little full from the hors d'oeurves. We might just walk over to Lago for a light dinner.

The BF is working tonight and I just got home from the gym-not to mention we just survived 4 days in a row of Heat Index of 100+.

So, tonight it's a light one (I'm on a diet too). A salad: grilled chicken, carrots, spinach, romaine, green squash, croutons, feta cheese, cucumbers with an italian dressing. With a side of Steamed Broccoli.

@Brooke: I want some!!

Last night I had spaghetti pasta olive oil, lemon zest &juice , garlic, parsley, capers and s&p. I would have added some parm but it has been impossible for me to find it here in Korea. Arrggg....

It was still delicious!

pasta alla norma from jamie's italy. basically pasta pomodoro w long thin slices of eggplant and ricotta salata.

Burritos in a Jalapeno-Cheddar tortilla filled with cilantro-spiked beans, ground beef, grated cheese and sour cream. Yes, I'm a dairy hound.

I made Crispy Garlic Chicken Cutlets, Broccoli and Cheddar Gratin, and Bruschetta (with grape tomatoes). Dessert is Dorie Greenspan's La Palette's Strawberry Tart with plenty of whipped cream!

Some friends came over to watch the season finale of Top Chef tonight and to celebrate, someone brought the ingredients to make mojitos and I made sugar doughnuts and banana fritters to snack on, so I basically had a mojito, doughnuts, and fritters for dinner. I don't do this often, I promise!

I was so excited to finally have cherries. They are practically tasteless. Why, why, why???? Last year they were superb! I could cry. I just tasted salt - I am crying and my tears have more flavor than my long awaited cherries. ;-(

awww Perky, its terrible when good fruit is bad! I feel for you, I bought some strawberries yesterday from a local grower that has a farm stand, and they were tasteless. Its such a disapointment when things like that happen. Dinner in my house was a pork loin with honey chipolte bbq sauce and baked potato salad for SO I also made my summer pasta salad whole grain pasta, wild rice, baby corn ears, pea pods, and carrots with some shredded chicken and a light poppy seed dressing. I'll eat off that for the next week, which is why I only make it in the summer, cooking in a hot kitchen once a week is more than enough!

I ended up making whole wheat rotini with broccoli and a garlic alfredo sauce.....and ate the whole thing. No leftovers.

Plus a couple gin and tonics ;)

Tonight it's a co-worker's b-day which means BAR FOOD (chicken fingers and nachos, here I come!) and tomorrow it's a friend's graduation party which means free awesome Puerto Rican food. I am so excited.

Oh no Perky!! It's especially sad with cherries, because they're so beautiful... maybe they'll get better in a few weeks??

I feel your pain - I made a lovely plum galette last weekend, and it looked soooo luscious and pretty, we couldn't wait to eat it. But the plums were so tart, it was almost savory! Even ice cream couldn't save it. So sad!

I made marinated black angus skirt steak, garlic hasselback potatoes with flavored sour cream and romaine hearts salad with red peppers and red onions with homemade tomato garlic dressing... mmmm

baked potatoes, salad, and asparagus. followed by some stewed rhubarb from the greenmarket.
