Snickerdoodle Cookie Recipes
I, like most people here that enjoy baking (especially of the cookie variety), have made snickerdoodles and absolutely love them. But the question I had was if any out there new of any unusual variations or additions to the basic recipe. The only basic change I've really ever heard of is choco-snickerdoodles. Anyone out there have any tips or recommendations?

I mentioned these on the favorite cookie thread. I'm not sure it really counts as a variation on the snickerdoodle because it has no cinnamon but I really like brown sugar cookies. They are a sugar cookie, rolled in a mix of brown & white sugar and are crackly. I use dark muscovado sugar -- an unrefined brown sugar -- which gives them a deep molasses-y flavor.

Mmmmm, Sinkerdoodles! My favorite addition to the recipe is dried cherries and almonds. Goes well with the cinnamon coating. I am thinking a some flaked coconut would be good, too. Sort of a cross between a Snickerdoodle and Macaroon. Oh - I might have to try that! Sorry, got distracted, Penguins just tied the hockey game with 30 seconds to go, c'mon WINGS, we want the Cup (again)!! I also wonder how some peanutbutter would be? Maybe dusted with cocoa?

Yeah, I was thinking maybe of trying maybe filling one w/coconut or maybe peanut butter and see how that might turn out.

I am thinking I might try to come up with a coconut version. I have always wanted to enter something in the State Fair or a cooking contest and maybe the coconut/Snickerdoodle will do the trick!

@Michigander, will you be calling your creation a cocodoodle? :)

I've been trying to find a Snickerdoodle Pinwheels recipe I saved but haven't met with success so far. Roll or pat out snickerdoodle dough, spread with sugary goodness (brown sugar, cinnamon & sugar), roll up, chill the cookie dough logs awhile, then slice & bake.

My Mother made Snickerdoodles when I was a kid! I don't bake, but a good recipe would be appreciated as my sister will be visiting at the end of June and I am confident I can convince her to make them (at my brother's house). My oven is completely off-limits! My oven is a virgin.

@holdthemayo - HAH, love the cocodoodle suggestion. I can see it now, "Winner in the MI State Fair cookie competition (or possible Pillsbury Bakeoff?) -- the Cocodoodle!"

@Michigander, If you win the Bakeoff, I get half of the million! (Just joking!)

I never had a snickerdoodle (my mom only made chocolate chips) what are they and what's the recipe?

I make a great chocolate chai spice snickerdoodle. I've also made them non-chocolate. Basically, just add your favorite chai spices to the coating for the cookies.
