Let's Talk Strawberries... What's your favorite recipe?
Strawberries have officially invaded the shopping universe. I made a strawberry clafouti for something different. What's your favorite dish?

strawberries, blackberries, raspberries, blueberries, sprinkle a little sugar over top, some good balsamic vinegar, a hit of cognac, mixed all up, let the juices form and mix together in the fridge for a couple of hours and serve in a chilled martini glass with/or without whipped cream.
This week I've added the same fruits in a blender with ice and some vodka for vodka smoothies, since the temperatures have been around 100.

Fresh homemade strawberry ice cream. Yum!

The oldie but goodie, strawberry pie (the kind with cheese on the bottom crust. With piles of whipped cream.
Strawberry-rhubarb crumble also makes me happy...

Just strawberries in a bowl with cream and sugar - heaven!
When I was little my Grandfather had tiny wild strawberries (fraises des champs) on his land in New Brunswick - they were little concentrated nuggets of stawberriness. I can still taste them, 30 years later...

Not necessarily a recipe, but the strawberry basil lemonade from Houlihan's is one of my absolute favorite drinks..we figured out our own way to make it. Muddle some cut up strawberry pieces with sugar and basil leaves, add some fresh lemonade and gin or vodka. Mmm...

I bought strawberries this week and they were not sweet and had a terrible texture. I am in strawberry hell right now!

I'm with Sadiepix on the strawberry-rhubarb crumble. Also love strawberry shortcake! And strawberries cut up in a bowl of Kashi Heart to Heart cereal, with vanilla soy milk on top, and a steaming cup of coffee on the side. Mmmmmm....

Cut up strawberries with plain old sugar, chilled for about an hour...maybe a dollop of whipped cream ;)

Strawberries in cereal. AND, I've been on a smoothie kick lately! Strawberries (frozen actually work well here), half a cup of milk, 2 tbsp non-fat milk powder, a bit of vanilla, ice cubes, and a packet of splenda. Perfect for a hot summer day :)
I'm working on a strawberry pie for Father's Day. Hopefully the rain will hold off here, and I can go pick some fresh strawberries tomorrow!

Well...last night my mom and I indulged in some fresh strawberries cut up and dipped into some amazzzing chocolate mousse. I like plain and simple.

1. When I was a kid, we would dip fresh strawberries in powedered suger for a snack - so good and one of those distinct childhood memories.
2. A fabulous college roommate made a lovely simple dessert: top a good vanilla ice cream with slice strawberries, then pour Chambourde (sp?) over it all. So good.
3. More of a daily 'recipe', granola in a mix of milk and plain yogurt topped with fresh sliced strawberries (and whatever other berries you have).

I eat them with a nice ripe banana .....

It's hard to beat strawberries tossed in a little sugar and good balsamic vinegar. I also love Pim's take on Passard's strawberries in hibiscus and vanilla syrup.

Izatryt...Cut up your strawberries and toss them with a few drops of basalmic vinegar. Let them sit for an hour or so. You'll definitely have a new flavor and texture that is reminiscent of good "old fashioned" strawberries.

My mother used to make a strawberry roll - sponge cake rolled with sliced strawberries and mascerated strawberries and whipped cream. She sprinkled the roll w/confectioner's sugar and served it with more strawberries and whipped cream. It was beautiful and delicious. I should look through her recipes and see if I can find the cake recipe - I've never tasted one as good.

@Boscompb - I will probably buy more when I hit the market this weekend. If they are like the last ones, I will try that. This week's purchase went down the disposal. :-(
@Perky - That sounds like the one my Nana used to make. Yummy! If you find the recipe will you share?

Straight from the pint. :)
Fresh strawberries are too wonderful to destroy by baking - I use the strawberries I freeze while they're in season for baking.
I also like them on salads. I put them with basil and vegetables today at lunch - really good.

Spiced Strawberry Preserves
Strawberries, a bit of sugar, lemon juice, dry sherry, balsamic vinegar and a little pectin to bind it all together.
This is the best on crackers with brie cheese.

the tristar strawberries from the union square greenmarket never make it all the way home. but if they did, it would be strawberry shortcake with biscuits and whipped cream, or vanilla ice cream with crushed berries mixed with vanilla sugar and a bit of lemon juice, the way i had it once on prince edward island.
