Gotta have this in!

Okay, so this is not something home made, but I love it and HAVE to start my day with it......Pop Tarts.....don't know why, just have to have one in the morning or I get very upset, if I don't have them in my cupboard I will go at at anytime of night to get them. Is there some type of food, home made or packaged that everyone HAS to have in the house at all times?

Myojo Chukazanmai ramen, Spam, shrimp, and baby leaf spinach. We don't eat it every single day (close though), but if we run low we always replenish our stock so we don't run out.

Fruit. Don't really care what kind, but always have it. And some type of chocolate.

Bananas. Although sometimes my timing is off, and they go overripe. Which isn't terrible, because then I make banana bread, cake or ice cream. Unlike overripe other fruits, at least they don't go to waste.

There's ALWAYS peanut butter, and usually both smooth and crunchy. A jar might last a while, but when it's close to empty, I always make sure I've got another one standing by.

Coffee (trader joe's organic) and 1% milk. I need 'em both to make my eponymous daily latte!

Hey, I wanna make banana ice cream with my over-ripe bananas...

Coffee. I'd venture out in a blizzard or tornado if I were out of coffee, wouldn't you? Hello, I'm PerkyMac and I'm a caffeine addict.

PerkyMac, I'm with you. I must have coffee. I used to need half and half to go in the coffee (I make it very strong and dark). I weened myself off that, so now it's just the coffee.

Like the others, coffee and milk are musts, otherwise I'm very grumpy. Bagels, bread bananas and other fruit are up there with other fast breakfast items. I think that having food available for the morning time is pertinent, you can always make a quick trip to the grocery store, or ask a neighbor if you missing something for lunch or dinner, but it's much more difficult to get to the store if you missing a breakfast item in the morning.

My new can't live without is green Doritos - they're sweet/sour/spicy, and not available in the US. When we go back in two years, I wonder if I can have them imported by the pallet...

GOTTA have the coffee......there aint nothin else i'd go out for in the middle of the night...lol....but peanut butter is a close second !!!

Peanut butter (although I recently bought some cashew butter from Trader Joe's - not bad!) and some sort of cracker/snack bread. Currently it's Wheat Thins, but sometimes I just throw some pita bread in the oven until crisp.

Gotta haves, for me, are salty crackers (Cheddar Cheese Nips are current favorite), Grape Nuts Flakes, milk, bread, butter, fruit and, the basis of the food pyramid...chocolate. I'll even admit to having a can of Chef-boy... ravioli in the pantry along with a couple cans of tuna and salmon.

Coffee for sure, and the things that go with them, milk and splenda. Then CHEESE. And anything carby I can put it on.

Coffee is the no-brainer answer for me too. Otherwise, I like to always have on hand; eggs, bread, and canned tuna. With a normally stocked pantry, I can make breakfast, lunch or dinner with these three as the "backbone".

pop tarts are my downfall. I manage a coffee shop, and as such get up at 5 am(after going to bed around midnight)...when I wake up I can't do much more than eat an un-toasted pop tart and drink a cup of milk.

Yes, coffee is like toilet paper in my house; it's inconceivable that we could ever go without. OJ comes next, followed by milk.

I am kind of weird about bananas. There's always one or 2 dark ones for the freezer, but I buy 3 or 4 bananas every time I am at the store.

Also lemons: my kitchen fills incomplete and I am an uneasy cook without lemons. Not that I use them in everything, but I'm surprised when I don't have them, and my attempts to sub in a pinch have disappointed.

Swiss cheese, eggs and tomatoes.

Coffee, saltines and peanut butter. hmmm i'm seeing a trend in this post;)

Olive oil. I can't stand using a different kind of oil to substitute olive.

For me it's coffee. We are going to Canyon Ranch this summer and I called them to make sure they serve coffee. I know some spas don't and I'd have to start weaning myself off it if I am to do without it.

Restaurant sized plastic wrap - and bag that stupid slide cutter. I kept my last metal cutter and stick it in every new box. I can't for the life of me go back to consumer-sized "saran" type wraps. (I know it's not a food but it's definitely a staple in my kitchen.)

I need some sort of juice in the house. Every morning I wake up thirsty for something light and sweet...preferrably cranberry juice.

Chew on That

Saltines, Louisiana hot sauce and Tillamook Cheddar Cheese (sharp is preffered- but medium will do)
We eat this for a snack at least once a week.

@huneybumper - Wow, I am another one: coffee, bread, and peanut/cashew butter, for my mornings. It took me years to discover, but the one thing that's easy to make that takes care of my gnawing morning hunger. I have to have protein and fat in the a.m. or I'm useless, ditto the coffee.

Ingredient-wise, I've got to agree with smile about olive oil - it's my least favorite thing to run out of unexpectedly, since I cook almost everything with it. Eggs might be second.
