Good family breakfast in South East PA...
OK you PA SEers-we're headed from Harrisburg to the beach in Delaware next weekend with 7 kids and 4 adults. We're looking for a good breakfast stop-either along route 283/30 towards Lancaster/Mt. Joy or on 83 S towards York/MD border (not sure which way we're going yet). Taste is more important than atmosphere-but kid-friendly is a must. Thanks!!!

Hey Foodiemama, i'm in York so I have two suggestions for you
Oregon Dairy - it's in Lititz, just a few miles north of Lancaster. It won't be too hard to find and is not really out of the way. The portions are huge for breakfast and each meal is served with coffee, a glass of milk, and a fresh donut before your meal actually comes. It's great.

The Neptune Diner - this one is more "on your way" in Lancaster and is also very good. Very traditional diner fare, but always been good to me.
There is also Round The Clock diner in York. It may just be the fact that I work about 15 feet from it, but it's just not appetizing to me any more. I do always send my hotel guests there and they love it though, so your mileage may vary. : )

Hey, Prairie, what else is there to eat in York? I've got family that's just moved there.

Okay, sorry, anyway here we go:
1. Bel Paese Italian Ristorante - Besides having awesome Puttanesca, the entire menu here is great. They have weekly and nightly specials and it's just really, really good italian food. It's located in a really small non-descript strip mall. http://www.belpaeserestaurant.com/
2. Harp and Fiddle - It's a great, great irish pub and restaurant. The Guinness here is great, and much of the interior (including the bar) as well as some of the staff is straight-off-the-boat Irish. The bangers and mash are great. Live music every friday and sat night too. http://www.theharpandfiddle.com
3. The Left Bank - One of the better fine dining options in the area. Menu is French influenced, great food. Good for a special occasion. http://www.leftbankyork.com
4. Mexitaly - Okay so the name, right? Mexican + Italian. Ignore that and just get the Mexican. Everything (including the salsa) is made in house, I recommend the chicken tacos. http://www.mexitaly.com
5. Roosevelt Tavern - It's York's oldest restaurant and the quintessential steak house. Bla bla bla bla if that's their thing they have good food.
Some other top places that shouldn't be ignored:
White Rose Bar & Grill
Central Pizza
Cobblestone's
Roburrito's
The Festive Board Deli
Moonlight Cafe
Viet Thai
Masa Japanese
Shangrila Chinese
Hope this helps, lemons!

There's a great place in Devon, Pa called Nudy's. They do amazing breakfasts and lunches, but I fear it may be too out of your way. .
