Food Trends in NYC

Well have seen everyone and their brother now open a burger joint. Almost saturating the island. What do you see as the next big trend?

i feel like barbecue's getting pretty established here (dinosaur, fette sau, hill country)...maybe time for a focus on soul food? people like to be nostalgic when times are hard...

Apparently it's going to be cheap Swedish and American Iconic food in various shades of brown, fiber extruded to assemble the chairs and tables it sits upon.

What happened to you New York? Next you'll be raving about the suffocating homogenous nature of your first Wal-Mart to go with "Every-Town-America" Times [Up] Square and Coney Island Mega-Mall.

no other ideas?

There might not be evidence of this trend, but I just pray that Korean plate lunches make it here someday..

aside from yogurt like Pinkberry, Red Mango, Yolato, just to name a few...i would say the next trend is probably asian ingredient-infused desserts. places like amai tea house and kyotofu sell things like green tea cupcakes. plus green tea is known to be "healthy" thus making this a popular ingredient to incorporate into food.
