Woodbury Commons
Any decent restaurants or diners near this shopping mall? The last thing I want is to be stuck eating fast food.

I've searched but I think the only real options up there is an Applebees and a Fridays, both of which are pretty awful. I did once find a sushi place that was decent in Monroe (I think), but I can't remember the name of it (but it does exist). It was about a 15 minute drive from Woodbury Commons.

There is a decent noodle place in their food court- ramen/ udon types of things... much better than I would have expected, and a world of difference from some of the other options there.

I agree, the Applebees there was terrible, but it wasn't as terrible as my "these stores look like yard sales" experience with the my one time shopping trip up there.

Just a little way down the road from the entrance to the outlets is a nice diner.
As far as I can remember from three or four years ago, it was comfortable, large, with good friendly service and decent food.
A nice break from the food court.
You might need to drive from the parking lot up to the diner because I don't think there are pedestrian walkways.
Also, if the weather is nice, there's nothing to prevent you from staking out a bench and having a picnic lunch.

Sorry for the late comment. There is a great Japanese restaurant halfway between NYC and Woodbury Commons that is open for lunch and dinner. It is called Akira and is less than five minutes of I-87. http://www.akirasushi.com/
